Hemi Swap 1yr Plan
There's always a next time man, if I had the HO I would have built it up. So you got a Focus and the Dakota now? I have a gas sipper too, but with two drivers in the house I don't use it 100% of the time..
btw, you didn't get any extra block mount brackets or isolators did you? or possibly the bolts to go with them...

So I'm down to the wire here. I am waiting on only two parts, one of which has an ETA and the other does not. The BBK throttle body that Rich at HiPoTeK is boring and polishing for me I hope will be done next week or the first of the week after. The upgraded 6.1 timing chain tensioner is on national backorder or some crap like that so I may just go ahead with the install without it for now and change at a later oil change.
I have both 4wd block brackets and both 4wd isolators for the motor mounts. I also got the "structural collar" that bolts to the bottom of the motor and to the transmission which I was told is different for the 5.7, not sure, but I got it just in-case. I need to go to the local fastener shop and pick up a bunch of various grade 8 nuts and bolts
I got a really nice aFe CAI that was meant for a 2012 Ram, but the price was too good to pass up. It's HUGE compared to a regular Dakota CAI. I had to cut part of the rubber seal on the stock air box to make up the difference in diameter, and I had to extend the IAT sensor a bit. It came with an air hat that hooks to the top of the filter box, but it didn't fit the Dakota box of course, so I cut a huge hole in the fender plastic.
So the plan is this;
When I get the TB, with or without the tensioner I'm going to start the tear down. I'll borrow a cherry picker to pull the motor, clean up the bay and start modifying the wiring harness, install the torque converter, clean up the engine bay and all the mess that will be made, flush the radiator real good, install a new trans cooler. I'll give myself a good week for the tear down and clean up, then I have some friends who are anxiously waiting to help get the hemi all dropped in and secured and that will be one day of a weekend. Then another week to get my hoses and wiring finalized, bracket for cable TB fabbed, get it started and over to the exhaust shop, then get it properly tuned by Sean. Smack dab in the middle of race season hopefully.
How does that sound?!

Sounds like once your truck is done your gonna need to take a drive out to Mass and we will throw one in my truck. You've made it sound too easy to the point that I'm seriously considering it after I get my bike going.
Well I expect some people will really want to haha. There was a guy on DT who traveled around the country installing camshafts for memebers lol. I don't think I have the dedication for that, but I would certainly be logged on for Q&A. And will be willing to duplicate any parts that go in to it as well. I will have a second set of block brackets fabbed the day of the drop in so I can have something to copy without pulling my set off the truck.
K, now I'm just waiting on the throttle body and the time to run get some grade 8 hardware.
In the pic, you can see the two black brackets. Those perches are going to be cut off and repositioned on the Hemi 4x4 brackets, at least for the drivers side anyways. I have heard the passenger side may bolt right up with some minor modification.
The cool thing here, is that with those mounts, I could very well upgrade to 4x4 some day lol.

PS, I need to do something about that front end, it's kinda plain.
