So I've been busy the last few days, probably too busy but oh wells. I made a how-to for the taurus fan setup, and I started seeing how I can get the Mark VIII fan to work on my setup.

I went to the junkyard and grabbed two fans, from a mercury cougar and a tbird, 96-97. One fan seems incredibly powerful, other is just a bit better than the taurus fan. But they are identical to the MArk VIII fans as far as I can tell, rumor on the web is that they aren't as powerful, but you wouldn't know it.

I also had an accident, (not a car accident) which took out my radiator this weekend.. and other stuff... but anyways, I removed the radiator and did some fitment with the Taurus fan and the Mark VIII fan.

ok, not for the faint of heart. Angle grinder, cutoff wheel shattered and grinder bucked, then twisted sideways into my hand, bounced off my hand and hit the radiator.

*removed pic* some may not want to see a gaping bloody hole in the middle of a build thread :P

Taking the truck to the midnight drag races tonight. Got the new radiator wednesday and put everything back together lastnight, filled it up and tested it. Runs cool, way cool I can still overwhelm it though, took it up the canyon, 5-8% grade at around 50-60 average with plenty of whips and hairpins. Got the needle to just at half before turning around and heading back down the canyon.

Found a weakness too, I have a small power steering cooler in series with the cooling loop, it gets hot enough (in that winding canyon) to make the rack sound like it's gonna blow. time for an upgrade. I'll probably need as much cooling for the P/S as I need for the trans.

anyways, I rigged up a camera in the cab so I can get decent POV video of the races tonight. and btw, hand is doing ok, I am lucky... very lucky, I think I might have cartilage damage in my thumb knuckle though, it can be very sore if it moves the wrong way, and I can't grip much yet, must have ripped up my first dorsal interosseous

Bad *** truck conversion! Way past my skills or inclination for the Dak. I have the WK w/5.7 but getting rid of it so too bad nobody here closer to me to come get it and do another conversion. The motor is a stump puller all right (and sounds best with BORLA! ). I even had a BB throttle body on it for a time but sold already.

So anyways yeah if anyone interested in buying and shipping here's one haha! It runs fine just the dang crappy Grand Cherokee host body sucks ie. crap sunroof tilts but don't open; broken door cups all of them; jeep unibody arthritis creeks; crap a/c oh yeah and the fargin' cheapo trans isolator bushing that you can't get to fix the clunking. But otherwise it looks and runs marvelous if you can deal with 9 mpg city since your foot is always in it.

Continued success with your Dak though! Awesome job.

Raced it last night, here's a little montage of my 4 runs, plus the burnout vid and a clip from when I raced on Aug 2nd.
I'm 406 on these time slips. my stats are pretty consistent, they were last time too. Not much you can do wrong with an automatic.

The times are pooey, but they are for everybody at these elevations. Could shave a second off at sea level, and with gears/wheels/tires I could see low 14s without any more engine work.

The E-Fan setup is perfect for me, I believe. It always kept the temps well below half with the Volvo 2 speed relay and the two pos temp switch. Automatic function, set and forget. I love it.

I did a speed run on the way back from the races, there's a stretch of I-215 that is very straight and at that hour there were no cars, from about 80mph I floored it, dropped to 3rd and it easily climbed 95ish to shift into 4th, it was still climbing quickly as the needle passed 115 and buried to the yellow pin and the truck kept going faster, it then shifted into 5th at around 6000RPM, at over 120mph, and climbed a bit further in speed at 3300rpm or so before I let off as the road starts to bend. I would guess it hit around 130 before I let off. It was pretty exhilarating, I'm happy with this truck

I'll have to GPS verify my next speed run.
