I'm almost 100% certain the back crossmember (the one that takes an oil shower every oil change) won't be in the way. The oil pan is thicker than the 4.7 and may bump the front crossmember and steering rack. I won't cut that one, so I may need a custom pan. It really depends on how it sits in the bay I guess, it's hard to make measurements at this point.

I was thinking of this pan from bouchillon performance, but it loses the clearance the stock pan has in the rear and gains clearance in the front, so it would probably need to be modified too.

The oil pan in the pic. won't work and the cross member is needed to bolt the rack & Pinion to , so it can't be cut off . But it can be notched out of the back side. Then all you have to do is re enforce the notch with 3/8" plate steel. It's a lot cheaper and easier doing it that way and you're not changing the stock Pick up tube or losing oil capacity..I can give you the measurements where it needs to be notched if you decide to go that way..

Thanks man, appreciate it. We shall see. It is a 3rd gen though, lots of differences.

Infact, I have looked long and hard to find info on this project and most of it just simply doesn't exist. There are tons of 2nd gen swaps out there, but only 1 single 3rd gen swap by Dusty05 and he aint talking. But his was a 4wd anyways so I don't know if his modded oil pan was for the cross-member or for the differential- or both.

It's all trial and error at this point.

When I get my engine hoist, I could always spend a weekend pulling the 4.7 to do a test fit of the 5.7 and then put it all back lol. It would be a messy test though.

Frenicx that sure sounds like a lot of work, only to put everything back.

I think you are better off working out the pan once the new engine makes its way in.

100% agreed. I couldn't see myself doing it twice. I'm surprised I even have the ambition to do it once lol.

The accessories arrived today. Dirty and oily, but I'll clean them up.

Got a pretty good deal on some stuff,

Scored an Intertia Motorsports cam, a 2011 Ram R/T torque converter, 6.1 springs and pushrods,

This IM cam, "Spartan" will be good for more HP than I guessed earlier, but it's a longer duration so the peak happens later in the RPM range.. thats ok. win some lose some. Either way, it will be hellaciously more powerful than stock and worlds above the 4.7.

The TC, is supposed to be rated around 2600 stall which will fit the cam a little better than stock and was a 3rd the price of something from Edge. hope it doesn't disappoint!

getting closer.
