Frenic, as this build goes, can you put together a detailed list of all the parts, fab pieces, routing, wiring, etc. that you are doing? This way, maybe we can get a "final" list when its all said and done. As so, a big thank you goes your way for being the test mule, as well as Hemi-dak.

Yep that's my plan, I have gotten a lot of the supporting information from Dusty05s swap at bionicdodge and DT, and Fast4.7 from Dak-dur and DT has givin me some 4.7 to 5.7 wiring info from what he did to his ram. The problem (and that's why I want to document mine as much as possible) is that neither of them were too heavy on the details in their threads and getting more info has been like pulling teeth.

I'm going to start a running parts list (swap related) in the top page once I start getting into the custom stuff. I will also keep a separate list for the non-required parts that I am putting in. (cam, upgrades, cosmetic stuff)

I'm also going to keep track of links to parts, walkthroughs and other info as I come up with it. It will kinda be a scratch post.

The next couple months will be slow, my classes start Tuesday again so I will just be working and studying, and trying to paint the block and upgrade the cam & hardware whenever I have the time. As I get parts I will post them and give pics and such of the build-up as it goes. I want to try and shoot for June for the beginning of the teardown and first dropin. That's when the required custom stuff will be truly apparent.

I am, however, narrowing in on the wiring aspect. Harnesses are expensive, and chopping up two good ones for just a few connectors is a waste. I've asked a couple companies if they can source just the hemi connectors I need, hopefully someone will get back to me with good news.

anyhoo, stay tuned.

Ok, I got a 2005 Ram 1500 (vin: D) wiring harness today from a local junk yard and it was only able to supply some of the connectors I need. I got the Oil pressure switch, alternator, and crank positioning sensor out of it.

one part I have left is the coolant temperature sending unit, and since that one was different, then the oil temp sender probably needs to be tracked down too cause it's the same difference.

But, it shouldn't be that hard because I should just be able to take those two sending units off my 4.7, if the thread count is the same. Or I can buy two new ones, they can't be too pricey I don't think.

Here's the harness is all it's ugly glory... and two stock images of the different sending units.

And also... some color choices for dressing up my engine, what do you guys think?

you guys are the best (no homo)

I was certain everyone was going to say Hemi orange, but I wanted the blue lol.

So I verified some things, upon closer inspection. My '05 hemi harness has more in common with the 4.7 than than it does with the '06 hemi engine. But, the differences are very small anyways. My advice to anyone is to get an '05 transplant.

So far, what I need to do is;
Relocate the camshaft positioning sensor plug, it is the same connector however.
Relocate crankshaft position sensor plug, again same connector
Relocate the EGR, again same connector.
(the next two might work, or I need an '06 harness)
Replace my coolant temp sensor with one from an '05, possibly Dakota
Replace my oil temp sensor with one from an '05, possibly Dakota

And the map sensor, has a different connector. If another one bolts up, I'll just get a different one. I just don't want to have to buy another harness. But, there is a 2006 harness at another junk yard near me. Too bad I can't return the other one.

Welp, as I just confirmed with the '05 harness I just bought an '04 probably won't cut the mustard either. But luckily the stuff that doesn't match up are all sensors than can be swapped... hopefully.

damn man its a lot of work..back in the day people didn't have to worry about all the different sensors..freackin PCM dominates everything now! Just make sure you keep track of year and model of everything you put in there in case you need to swap or replace it. You seem to be pretty organized on the project though
