thanks Steve, yea I picked up an industrial sized tube of engine assembly lube, and have all my timing stuff hammered out. It's really easy, I mean I would prefer to do this 50x before I'd replace lower control arms again...

The general consensus is that you need a special ($130 kinda special) tool to replace the valve springs on a hemi because of those dampers around the spring.

I just rented a regular valve spring compressor from Checker and ground the fingers down to almost nothing, first 2 springs took 2 hours to figure out and get a method down.. and the other 14 took 2 more hours, each cylinder I worked on I kept at TDC so if the valve dropped they wouldn't go far. I also made a tool to compress the cylinders to keep the valves up during the spring compressing moments.

I enjoyed it, and I am glad the cam will be here tomorrow so I can work on it some more.

Valve springs are always an adventure..I was just doing them on a BMW N52 engine but it actually wasn't too bad. The hardest part is getting the valve keepers to lock in place, not compressing the spring itself. I would love to do all this to a Hemi though..glad you are having fun and learning

Got a couple good things today, and installled one of them.
There's a sale on the fan at Amazon by the way, $32 and the derale controller is $45, all new. So $80 total could have you an e-fan.

And the cam getting installed.

I missed the fan deal, but not the controller deal luckily. But that happens to me ALL the time haha.

And yea, I would love to make kits. What I want is some mounts that use the factory frame mounts so it can be a plug-n play drop-in. I have an amazing welder who will be helping me on swap day so hopefully I can get something hammered out then.

I have an 06 Dak w/ the HO engine... would I benefit with a Hemi Swap, or should I just keep building up my HO? I was just about to order my new headers then saw this thread...

In the long run, the Hemi will always have more potential for HP, but it will be along time and a lot of $$$ before this is the case.

The HO has forged internals, which make it a dream set-up for a turbo set-up.

But if you do decide to go with the Hemi, please let me vulture your HO engine?
