Default 2012 Citadel Amplifier & Subwoofer

After reading several posts I was curious about what I had in my Citadel. Since Bass is non existence I decided to do a little exploring.
Here is a step by step Amplifier and Sub removal.

1) After removing the trim, I removed two nuts (under trim piece) and two bolts located inside the small compartment just under the tire jack.(1)

2) Very carefully lift the front of the storage compartment and disconnect the small connector.
3) Remove the one piece storage compartment.

4) Unplug the subwoofer to Amp wire , remove the bolts and extract the enclosure.

The 8" subwoofer is facing down to the floor of the vehicle.

Here is a photo of the removed tiny (8") subwoofer next to the enclosure.

The easy way to remove the Amp is by removing the left quarter trim panel. Since I was only taking the Amp and Sub just to see what I had, I went about it the lazy way.
The amplifier is attach to a metal bracket. The bracket is connected to the vehicle body by 1 bolt under the quarter panel trim and two nuts on the car floor It is impossible to detach the amplifier from the bracket while it is still attached to the vehicle's body ( 2)

To remove the last bolt on the bracket, remove a small screw on the bottom of the quarter panel and pull the quarter panel out enough to use an open end wrench (10mm). If you are doing a full install you should remove the quarter panel trim. There is another small screw located toward the front of the car next to the 2nd row seat.

I hope that this is helpful to some people. I can't wait for some solutions to the lack of Bass. I could take it to a Professional radio place but I like doing Mods to my cars so I will be researching ways to keep it as close to stock as possible while adding that extra much need it Bass.

Blue,

Interesting post. However NONE of the photos show up. That durangoforumz forum doesn't allow hot-linking to the photos you have there. Use PhotoBucket or something like that universal instead.

This is exactly what I was planning to do this weekend. I was going to take it all apart and photo document the process. Thx for beating me to it. Great post!

I think I have figured out how to get my 8w7 in there tuned at 28hz. I will start a thread on it as I move forward.

I thought the same thing when i purchased mine. But if you go to the menu and audio setup, and if you take down the mid it makes a night and day difference. Voices are crisper and bass is now distinctly there. where as before you might have forgot there's a sub in back.

Let me know if this works for everyone else as well.
Note: mid is in between bass and tremble in the audio settings.
This is an old post I realize but I just read it last night and tested the theory this morning on the way to work. Super-duper WOW! What a difference dropping the mid frequencies on the equalizer made to the overall sound quality. I would imagine this stems from the fact that there are no passive/active crossovers processing more acute freq. ranges to the speakers. Either way, who cares...this made a huge difference. This doesn't negate my desire to upgrade in the future, but it did create the ability to wait a bit longer for other mods to be completed first.

Thanks for the tip...THIS WORKS EVERYONE!!! (at least in my 2012 R/T it did..with the MC730N)

Check out this set up. You will lose the small compartment in the trunk but it looks really good. However I can't see myself spending that much money for an enclosure. Big money with or without the subwoofer.

a couple guys on here have done the stealth box. I had one in my 09 Ram but they only wanted 699 for that one. A G is a little steep!
