Default hesitant to buy an '11

Hi. First post long time lurker. I am looking for a used DD. Lots of combinations out there to choose from but I am hesitant to get q first year model g3. What is the general wisdom on buying the '11. I saw some posts about issues but can't find them and don't remember what the issues were. Had a G1 years ago and always missed it. Thanks in advance for any advice.

My friend and relative who both work at 2 different Jeep dealershipsone warned me that he had come across a D with a wobble and no one could figure out what it was. Turns out courtesy of the he forum here I read and gave him the thought and turned out to be the tires not the truck. So I bought one and I've been very happy with the exception of how low it is. Always had much higher riding vehicles.

The major problem with the 11's is the TIPM Module
Take a look at the vehicles service history if the TIPM has been updated that is Great if not it will more than likely fail. The replacement TIPM's have had no issues thus far

Not an issue, but it's also the only year with the 5 speed

Don't know much about the 11's, but my 12 RT has been perfect. Great SUV...

We have an '11 Crew with ~53k on the clock. So far, no issues.

Our D hasn't had the TIPM replaced, as far as I know, and the heads (so far) haven't had any issues either.

Hey Steve, is there a general time frame of when these tend fail in the 11's? Just curious if I'm in for a hurting at any time or maybe I'm just lucky for once.

No it's Random it has to do with the fuel system relays built into the TIPM

The 5 speed and 6 speed are the same transmission. Same unit with different programming. No real advantage to the 6 speed.

Not sure on this The 5 speed was the same as the 4 speed from years prior
The 545rfe is the 5 speed and the 45rfe is the 4 speed
The 6 Speed is a new trans. compared to them
I have owned 2 prior models
