Default Relay Nasty

They added the relay to our 2011 and it looks like a teen aged did it .. Also its been taking a few seconds to start the last month or so ..

Ours cost about $80 .. Now I've seen a recal but I've already paid .. Not 100% impressed with our Durango this far (got it new in June 2911)

I wonder if the official "fix" will be a fuel-relay jerry rig rather than an outright TIPM replacement.

Look at Post 48 and 50 in this thread. "it looks like a teenager did it" is exactly why I didn't wait for Dodge to do it and I did the recall procedure myself using Dodge's own procedure.

I got the part from Amazon for $30 and did it in about 3 hours.

Got my TIPM recall notice today. Of course I knew from reading on here that it was
coming on my 2012 DD sometime. I did inquire about a month ago at Chrysler/Dodge if this recall would include my DD. Of course they said no, your DD is fine and you are good to go. HA!

Once again Chrysler never ever seizes to amaze me and disappoint me at the same time.

I just my notice in the snail mail today. I called my dealer service and was told there are no parts available and I just should wait until notified by snail mail again that parts are available. I call the 800 number on the recall notice and I was told the same. I told the rep to record my call because I'm really concerned of the warning they put in, "an intermittent or failed fuel pump relay may cause your vehicle to stall while driving causing an accident".
Should I keep driving this thing or just park it until I get the recall completed?

Granted Im not DodgeCares, however when our 2011 began to fail the only issue we were having was it not starting on the first or second or third etc time, until it finally would not start period. It never shut down on us. I would just drive it personally. But that is my opinion and having had a litany of 60's cars growing up in California, a car breaking down on me has never been a fear. (I had my Accel coil fail on me on the higway on my 66 fastback, pulled over, waited for a tow).

The service writer said he's never heard of a TIPM and any recalls associated with it. Then he was sure to caution me about forums and websites. I said, this is THE most official forum for Dodge as far as I know!

Does anyone have the recall number specific for the 2012 DDs? I checked my VIN and it wasn't covered in any recalls at this moment.

EDIT: My VIN JUST showed up as part of the recall, but as the previous poster mentioned, parts are not available. So I called the dealership, they see the same thing on their end, so I'll just patiently start my vehicle 3 or 4 times as needed.

You can easily test/verify the TIPM fuel relay failure AND bypass it until they get your vehicle under the recall.

I do like how another fix is to just hit start button first (without foot on pedal), then put foot on pedal and hit start. Seems like it gives that split second for the fuel pump to kick into gear. Thanks for the link! I'll be trying this to avoid it until the recall comes in.
