No you can update the tuner without going back to stock on the truck with no issues.

Joe,
Seems like we have similar vices. I also have a 03 Ram 1500 5.7, K&N CAI and flowmaster dual exhaust and I'm using the SC3865 91 octane advance tune. This has been the best spent money yet. It has really waken the truck up and the mileage has also improved. I'm running 285/50-20 (30.5") tires and the only down side is I can't get it out of the hole without a lot of wheel spin. Next mod will be a 3:92 gear with posi. The truck is serious fun.

My question is should I have changed it to 33" tire size from the 31.5" that it showed?
My truck is the same way. I have the 275/60R20 (33”) tires, and the Superchips programmer says they are 31.5”. But I would leave it at 31.5”, that’s what it thinks the stock tire size is, so it won’t adjust the speedo. When I got the Flashpaq a couple years ago, I changed the setting to 33”, but when I did, my speedo was about 5 mph fast, so I kept it at 31.5”, and the speedo is perfect. Hopefully, one of the Superchips people can explain why it does this.

LOL Guess I will have to go change it back. I figured that it has to be smarter than I am so I changed it to what I actually have for tires(33").

might be because of tire wear and because the tires compress a little with the weight of the truck on them. if you want to be really precise, go measure from the center of the wheel to the ground, and multiply by 2 to get what your 'real' tire size is.

If the tires are the stock 275/60/20, 31.5" is correct. If you have stock tires, no need to change that setting.

33" is right. the 31.5 are on the 17" rims. again, it might just be because the weight of the truck reduces the radius on the tire. how did you confirm that putting the setting to 33" makes the truck read fast?
