Crager Soft 8 ?
Hi guys,
I am looking to buy a set of Crager Soft 8 wheels for my 2008 Big Horn 4X4. I searched the forum and still have a few questions. Here are the rims I am looking at.

Estimated Ship Date: Today
Cragar 3978955 - Cragar Black Soft 8 Wheels
Wheel, Soft 8, Steel, Black, 17 in. x 9 in., 5 x 5.5 in. Bolt Circle, 5 in. Backspace, Each
Part Number: CRR-3978955 More Detail …
Estimated Ship Date: Today
</H2>
Can anyone tell me which rim configuration would best suit my truck. I wish to know if one rim has better clearance over the other for my stock control arms, calipers, etc.
Does the 17X8 (4.5" BS) stick out equally as the 17X9 (5" BS) as a result of the rim widths?
Keep in mind I do not have a lift or levelling kit. Thanks for you help guys.

Good, solid, dependable and equally as important inexpensive steel wheel. Long been a favorite of the Jeep crowd.
Would depend on the tire width you plan on running. Ideally, you want the wheel to be 3" thinner than the tire width with 1" plus or minus being within spec. If tire width is less than 11" go with the 17x8, tire width over 12" go with the 17x9, if it's in the middle either would work and it'd basically be personal preference.
The 9" wide wheel has 5" of backspacing as opposed to the 4.5" of the 8" one because it's assumed you would be running a wider tire and having it not stick out far beyond the wheel well.
I run a 17x9 with 4.53" of backspacing which widens the stance of my 12.5" wide tire considerably...

Thanks for the quick reply guys. I am looking to mount 285/70/17 Goodyear Duratracs on them. I am currently running a stock 17" rim with stock Goodyear ATS 275/70/17.
I was just curious which rim would work best on my Ram with the Duratracs with the least amount of interference.
During my forum search, I noticed two other members running these wheels but couldn't tell if the 17X9 rim stuck out further than the 17X8. To me, it would seem that the Backspacing would cancel out the rim width and the wheels with stick out equally.
I was also unsure if both rim styles are compatible with my non-torsion and 4X4 front end.
Again, thanks to those answering my post and I welcome recommendations on rim configurations from anyone else running these rims on a 2007-2008 Ram 4X4.

Very strong wheel, the only negative about them is that they are steel and as such are a good bit heavier than aluminum after-market wheels. No more so than most steel stockers though...
BTW, good choice on the Cepeks, my personal favorite tire for a daily driver truck that still needs the ***** to play in the muck on the weekends...

That is right 08RamMan, you were one of the members I saw with them and I believe the other person was from Edmonton AB. He had the 17X8's on his 2WD Ram.
08RamMan, do you have any rubbing or clearance issues with the rims themselves? If I rememeber correctly, you painted your center caps black. They looked great!
