Default Headers

I need a good recommendation for headers. I have the flowmaster 40 series already and just want to open her up as much as possible. I looked for edlebrock and hooker headers for the 5.7 and didn't come across any. Any other ideas?

Most of us run Pacesetters. If you got deep pockets Dynaflow is the best out there, but at about a third the price, the Pacesetters aren't too far behind on the dyno.

However, IMO you'd be throwing away your money. Your intake/exhaust system is only as good as it's worst flowing part. Headers won't do much at all without a CAI and with one of the poorer flowing mufflers made. The factory "Y" pipe is a pretty bad restriction too.

Edelbrock most certainly does make heades as well. Have them on mine and I love them. You won't notice them much until you hack off that ****ty crushed y pipe the truck has factory tho.

Pacestters work great and they are cheap so if you can go that rout that is what I would do. Like said before ditch the flowmaster, IMO the only thing they are good for is sound, flow/performance wise they suck and get a CAI to open things up. If you are going to do them you need to do them right to take full advantage of them. Also the headers (well at least the pacesetters) will increase the volume of the exhaust and change its note, which puts the flowmasters ever further down on the list since they sound horrible with headers and drone quite a bit (again IMO). I went with the pacesetters / borla xr-1 / and a cutout and love the tone of the truck now. It just sounds mean with that combo.

For the other headers, if you have to go with the shortys or if they have to be CARB approved, look for the edelbrock TES headers or JBA headers, from what I have read on various forums, both are very good and produce good numbers while still being legal.

If you want sound clips to help you decide what you want to do, I have a few I can post up with and with out the heads and with the cam and cutout.

Well I'm saving up for the edelbrock TES headers and i'll cut out the Y-pipe and run it true dual.

Thanks for that link.
