Default Dash hook

Can someone tell me what the weird hook on the dash beside the cupholders is for? I have been searching the owners manual and can't find anything about it.

Talking

You know they would come up with an option like that just when I stopped carrying a purse.

Lol. I think the official name for it is "bag hook", without the benefit of what kind of bag it is intended for specifically.

A thread went around a while back asking the most useless thing in your truck, I automatically thought of that hook when I read the thread title, but someone beat me to it when I opened the thread up.

For a long time, i pondered this same question. Took me about 2 years to figure it out when I had a 09 tahoe come into the shop about 4 months ago and had a little baggy attached to a hook similar to ours. It finally clicked. I feel your stress and worry about this hook on whether it would unleash some sort of gains in horsepower or not. Only good use I can see besides a trash bag is to hang a pair of your ladies undies on...lol.
