Diablo Sport Predator mpg improvement?
I am starting this thread to document my real world results with the DSP model U7127 and whether or not it helps me with an increase in mpg. I previously wrote a thread on the Volo Performance FS3 and it did not help increase my fuel economy.
My truck is a 05 Ram 2500 crewcab shortbed 2wd with a Hemi and automatic. It is a surplus government work truck that I purchased in 06/2012 with 78054 miles on it. As of today, it has 88084 miles and is bone stock. My best mpg to date is 16.54 and the worst was 12.31. My last tank got 14.82 mpg and the needle is currently sitting at the halfway mark with 280 miles on this tank.
I just purchased a used Diablo Sport Predator U7137 on eBay because I'm too cheap to buy new when used will do!
Right out of the gate, the DSP said I needed to update the factory flash before installing a performance tune. It directed me to the DiabloSport web site where I could get the flash for free along with updating my u7137 with the latest tune file. All that was accomplished without any trouble just as the DSP instructions said.
My first tuning mod was to install the performance transmission tune and leave everything else stock. I wanted to see how firm the shifts became without anything else. Results were pleasant but not spectacular. I will keep this setting as I expect (hope) it will prolong the longevity of my transmission.
Sometime later this week I will fillup my tank and post my beginning mileage for this test. I plan to install the MPG Booster tune first to see how much bang for the buck I get. Anybody with advice about this please chime in.
My usual weekly drive consists of about 50/50 city highway including a 156 mile round trip most every weekend to my small ranch in the country. I try not to drive around the pastures too much because that sort of kills my average mpg for that tank.
Right now the truck is bone stock with no other modifications other than the DSP. We'll see how it goes.........

I don't mean to be a buzzkill here man but if you keep looking for all these things to improve your MPG you're gonna go down a rabbit hole that you don't want to travel. Better to just save the time and hassle and get a CTD. You'll get at least 1.5x what you're getting now while paying the same or a little more as the 93 or 91 you'll be putting in for the Performance tune
