Default Redneck hottub?

Hey guys. Im gonna be making a redneck hot tub in the bed of my truck this summer, but with all that water, its almost 3000 pounds of water. Do you think this will do damage to a stock suspension? It's a completely stock 04 ram 1500 quad cab short bed. It has a tow package if it matters.

Thanks

Are you sure it's 3000 lbs? I have buddies who I've seen make this and the truck didn't squat too much eve with the water and people in the bed. This was also a Titan

when i did the math of how much space was there, it came to around 400 gallons and change. i think 430 gallons or something like that. water weighs somewhere between 7 and 8 pounds a gallon. that comes to 3,220 pounds of water. my truck sits liike a dragster as it is. ill probably be leveled out at that pount.

Are you planning on driving around with the water in there?

When I was on Guam in the late 90's, we used to put big sheets of plastic in the bed of a Ford Ranger and fill it up with water. I've seen pictures from those days, and with several people and a floating cooler of beer, the suspension didn't really look a whole lot different. I wouldn't go driving around with that much weight in the bed, though, especially unevenly sloshing around. Looking at balance/handling issues, as well as impact on braking ability.

I assume you are not driving it with water in the bed so just place a couple of jack stands under the frame. It will squat enough to put weight on the jack stands and you should not have to worry much. Now in what kind of redneck way are you going to heat the hot tub.

I think you should be fine. Isn't your payload like 1600lbs? And that should be what you can safely drive down most roads at reasonable speeds with. A stationary load of 3,000 shouldn't break anything that isn't about to break anyway. Make sure your tires are inflated to handle the load.
