pacesetter long tubes offer a great combination of value and performance. Ceramic coated ones will run you around 450-500 bucks. you could get perhaps a touch more performance out of a high dollar set, but the pacesetters are pretty hard to beat.
Shorties are good for low end torque. The only reason most people dont really like shorties is that they provide most of their gains down low which doesn't show up on a dyno. LTs will give you a gain in HP but it'll be up in band. So if you plan on racing and spending alot of time above 3-4K RPM then LTs are the best but for towing and everyday stuff I would say shorties. I plan to get shorties because I would prefer more TQ the HP
I know conventional wisdom will tell you at least sometimes that shorties are better for low end, but there are a lot of people who say that LT's will give you a better increase all the way across the board, including low end and with quite a big advantage higher up.
Here is a nice write up (there are more too if you just do a google search) showing gibson shorties vs some LT's, it shows the LT's with a power advantage all the way across the board.

Anyone that says shorties are good for low end torque either are mistaken or aren't reading their graph right. Long tubes are better for low end torque, and gains across the board.
The only real benefit to shorties is their size and relative ease of install.

Awesome, so long tubes it is. Time to start my research on brands plus the rest of the exhaust whether it be y pipe or x pipe and what muffler. I just put on a glasspack after removing my flowmaster.

I don't have supporting mods yet. I'm getting stationed in Germany for three years which means my truck stays here in the states at my dad's house. So while i'm in Germany I will be ordering parts one at a time the entire time I'm gone so when I get back, I have a ton of things to do to her! lol
