Default Can you break the rears loose?

Before you start flaming, please be assured, I don't do this on a regular basis. Heck, I don't even do this on a rare basis, but everybody's gotta see what their new truck does, right?

I've got the 08 Dodge 1500 QC 4.7 V8 with the 20's, and from a dead stop, if I nail the gas, the rears won't break loose and spin. This doesn't actually bother me, since again I don't do burnouts, but I'm wondering if something's wrong. This is the first pickup ever that I've driven in that can't do a burnout.

Can you break your rear tires loose?

well take the wheels off and see how heavy they really are, also the stock 20's with the goodyear tires have tons of contact points. Put the little 17" wheels with the stock tires and I bet you can burnout like no other. But my truck chirps a little bit when I just gun it. And I have the stock 20's and tires also I got the year were the wheels are forged aluminum so they might be lighter than the news steel with chrome covers.

Ok, so I guess this is normal. I just think back to high school, when it was kinda hard to not spin tires on pickups.

You're right though, the truck is spinning some weight, so it makes sense.

Mine won't if I just floor it from a dead stop, but that's because of the drive-by-wire throttlebody on the HEMI.
With a little brake, it will pretty easy. I tried it once just to see if it would.

I had to try it once and I got some decent spin punching it from a dead stop (SC Hemi, stock 17's, 3.92 rear).

A clean out and a burn out are two different things...power brake it for a burn out.

you've also got to realize the older truck were more front heavy than the new ones are today.Thats why you had to work on NOT spinning the tires on older trucks

The newer models like stated above had anti spin rear end so it says on the window sticker which doesnt give you all the throttle from a dead stop... but doing a little power brake and mine will smoke 'em...
