Actually it does matter if you mix, especially for stereo speakers. Different cone materials, sensitivity, different resistance, etc make for big differences in sound, output, accuracy and quality. Its not quite as bad for subs but the same is true. Cheaper quality provides lower grade sound. As for the placement. Bass is non-directional. A good sub system will project forward and with a good mix will sound like its coming from the front.

sorry for bringing my OLD thread back up but, Does anyone have experience mounting a alpine touch screen dvd into the dash also running type r components. I can't make up my mind of where I would mount the tweet. I want to keep the mid and the tweet kind of close that way the mids and the highs come from the same spot.

huh? I was going to get the 5 1/4" components. Nice job with the pdx amps. Those were on my wish list but had to settle with the mrp amps instead because of the budget. Do the components sound good just mounted to the doors? Hows the bass? Since the door isn't sealed, I was going to install a baffle o the mid has it's own enclosure but I don't think there is enough room in the door.

there isn't a whole lot of room back there but you may be able to get a baffle in. the type-r's are abiut a 1 1/2 shollower than the stock infinity 6x9 set up. i thought i read in here that they weren't selling the 5 1/4 components anymore. the sound really good as they are. i still am working on the amp set up so they are being pushed by the ida-x200 right now and just the 2 up front blow the mopar infinity system out of the water. i was surprised at how much room was between the speaker and the door panel. there is like 2.5 to 3 " easy you could space your woofer out and get a small baffle behind the door.

Go to a boat supply store. They are all made out of fiberglass. I went the expensive route and bought 5 gallons of resin. a liter of catalyst and fiber glass matt and sheet. It was around $300 for materials.

Is it worth buying Amp installation kits or much more of a satisfaction feeling if you bought the wire added the end connectors and ran your own power/ground/lead wires, same with the speaker wires . . . ?

buy the kit. rockford fosgate has some of the best wire imo. you can find their kits on ebay for cheap.
