4.7 HO Cam swap possible piston ring blow by
First off I would like to say i am sorry , i know on other forums it is usually customary for your first post to be a pic of your truck. Sorry to say i do not have a pic of Savannah. That will change.
Second thing is hello everyone i have been looking through the threads and there are some pretty d#%n knowledgable people around here.
Now my question. I have 74000 miles on my truck and my lash adjusters are stating to get noisy so i am going to change them. I also figured while i was at it i would put the HO cams in. When i mentioned this to my pops (who BTW is one of the best mechanics i have ever met) he suggested against it and told me that the lifts on the new cams would create a higher compression and could cause my piston rings to unseat resulting in blow by. Has any one changed the cams on their 4.7 with as many miles on the block (or more) as mine with any issues of piston rings unseating or any other oil blow by probs? Should i worry about it or just go with the HO cams and be done with it?
Any opinions would be greatly appreciated and thanx in advance everybody.

I've got a pretty good idea a certain someone who sells the H.O.'s is behind that.
But believe me, I've seen actual dyno's and heard the lope from all three (and the 212x as well). And don't forget that I have the H.O.'s in my Grand Cherokee. But there is no comparison, the gains from the H.O.'s are the least of the bunch by far.
That's not saying they are not a worthwhile mod by any means, though. The other cams need much more modifications to work where the H.O.'s are basically plug and play and really do wake that 4.7 up a good bit...

Thanks for the replies everybody. I didn't think the HO's would be a prob, but i would rather ask than find out the hard way.
My plans are the HO cams, headers, CAI, and cat back exhaust, and finally a programmer.
Again thanks everyone for the info......i guess now is to order the lashadjusters and the cams.
