Well me and my friend took his truck apart yesterday (We were going to remove the o/l leaf) we learned that PB blaster is your best friend, and having a friend with you isnt bad either We ended up just puting it back together without doing any lowering.... (It was getting late) But now we know what to do and what not to do. Was wondering which leaft to take out. I was pretty sure it was the fat one at the bottom but i just wanted to check. He was also wondering how it will affect the ride.

The O/L Leaf is this bugger right?

Oh and another thing for Mamba You could also clamp your leaf like in this picture and get pretty close to level without removing the o/l. I bought 2 kits from autozone for like 30 bucks

This was after getting stuck a few times with the ****years..... I removed the clamps before installing the coopers so idk what it would look like.
Thanks

Whoa...serious? Does that affect loading the springs at all? If not I will definately have to consider this. This is in conjunction with the shackle swap right?

It is pretty much just Clamping the bottom leaf together with the other ones. I had my leafs clamped for about a month and my friend has had his for a year and no problems other than me hating the dips where the streets meet. They are very simple and easy to install/uninstall.

i took my clamps off because i hated how it looked with the goodyear tires on it. I think it was because they were bigger (60s) Compared to my Coopers which are 50s. My friend has 55s and his truck looked perfectly level.

Here is another pic pretty level if your ask me.

What happens at the dips and why does it have to do with the clamps? So then it seems that your buddy only has these and no shackles where as you have the shackles and no clamps? Might be worth a try first.

With the dips it just seems if you take it a tad to fast your rear end is just a bit stiffer (you feel the dips lol). Without my clamps my rear end just bounces....

Me and my friend both have 2" shackles

The clamps would definitly b worth a try imo

This is interesting. Does loading up the bed with stuff have any effect on these clamped springs? So it seems that clamps + shackles gets you pretty damn level by all accounts of those pics...looks good. And hey if they don't work out for me I can always remove them and delete the O/L spring right?

I never loaded anything into my bed ( havent had 2 ) so idk how it would be loaded. IF i would have ever had to load anything heavy in mine i would probably just take em off (10 minutes). As long as your tighten the clamps enough i dont see any problems.

I bon't know about clamps, it doesn't seem like a premanent solution. However I can say that on my truck when I ran shorty shackles and removed the O/L spring it sat level. I pull a 6x12 enclosed motorcyle trailer and it looked like the O/L spring had never touched the other springs. Good luck...

I agree...it is not a permanent solution. That being said I will order the drop shackles and think this over a bit. The O/L delete doesn't seem too difficult to do (keep in mind I will be doing this by myself) and since I will be under there to swap the shackles it would be the perfect time to do it. Also I don't really think I will be hauling around too much stuff either...just average truck stuff. Probably gonna pick up some clamps in the meantime and clamp them just to see how stiff the ride becomes first. If too stiff for me then O/L delete for sure.
