I would show off for friends, show off for the girls at school, didn't pay as much attention to the road or lights, goofed off here and there. Now eventhough I never got one ticket, not one accident and only missed one question on my written test and had 2 points knocked off the driving portion, I look back at the stupid crap I did and wonder how the f*** I thought I was a great driver.
You never wrecked which means you could maintain control of your vehicle while doing these things. Just because you don't follow the traffic laws doesn't mean you're a bad driver. So what if i do burn outs through intersections, or speed. I know what i can and can't do. If i feel at any point my actions are dangerous and can cause me to wreck, i stop. Just because you do these things doesn't mean you are bad at controlling a vehicle.

As for the OP: start off with the 4.7 get a feel for the ram first then upgrade in a few years, it's what all the cool kids are doing.

Ever since my accident, when I come to blind intersections, I could give a **** less who is behind me, I will slow down to about 10mph, and proceed through, in our town there is a stop sign, that you turn either left or right at, and the drivers coming at you, can either go left or right as well, well, in all legality, the drivers coming at you do NOT have to signal a left hand turn, as it is a continuation of the main road, and going to the right you SHOULD use a blinker... well I'll be sitting at that stop sign, and I'll see a car coming over the bridge, and I will wait til either, a) there are no cars coming, or b) I see a blinker signaling which direction said oncoming driver is turning...

There have been NUMEROUS times, I'll be cruising town with friends, and I'll be sitting at that stop sign for twenty, thirty seconds, before I move, cuz I've experienced it once, I was ready to pull out, and the guy coming at me, didn't use his blinker, cuz legally, he didn't have to, and turned left, had I continued, I prolly might not be here today...

I've been really afraid of that stop sign, ever since...

It takes thought and patience on things like that...

Get a 2004 dodge l1500 ike mine. as far as safety is concerned this is one of the safest trucks dodge made provided that you get the sports package. it comes with a super reinforced front bumper that dodge only circulated for 2 years. also i recomend a grill guard just because it adds to safety and looks as well. i just got in a colission not long ago and the bumper and grill guard insured that my truck rolled away with one dent and the ford focus i hit was totaled....i was going less than 10 mph. With regards to performance you will be hard pressed to find a truck that performs better. mine has a hemi and i love it and ive never gotten stuck in it before

I'd be pissed off too if I had a little dinger! Not a lot of second dates I'm imagining.

I'm going to drop out of it on this one... but this is yet another post from a "kid" that proves my entire point. What happens if you pop a tire in the middle of the intersection and your car plows off into oncoming traffic?

I know what you're going to say- a blow out can happen anytime, and that's true. If it happens while you're just driving normal, than it's an accident. If it happens while you're doing a burnou through an intersection than it's vehicular manslaughter. There's that age and experience thing again....

i think you would be completely happy withthe 4.7. not only would you get better mpg... not that that should be the determing factor as you are buying a truck, but it is a positive, but you will have plenty of power. Im 25 and mine is enough for me. Would I like to have a hemi, sure who wouldnt, but i think you would get by fine with the 4.7 qc 4x4...

I should have specified more clearly, an open intersection. If there's a bunch of cars, or downtown with poor visibility, I'm not going to do it; which goes back to my previous comment "If i feel at any point my actions are dangerous and can cause me to wreck, i stop."

As for tires blowing out, I'm not to worried. Only two ways it would happen is if it blows due to use, or i run over something that punctures it. I get tires for free and they're replaced every 3-4 months, so the chances of having a blow out due to over wear is next to none. That leaves me running over something. 305/50 coopers aren't the type of tire that take a nail and then blow. My tires also have a thick side wall which helps.

On top of all that, it would have to be a front tire blow out for it to really effect the control of my truck. Then even on top of that, a blow out at speeds that low aren't going to make me jump lanes and hit oncoming traffic.

So even if i were to encounter some freak accident and a tire actually does blow out, my chances of wrecking aren't that high.

I have nothing against you rubber frog and I don't want to have anything against you but this is starting to really get to me. I mean even if I was doing the speed limit it would not have changed much. An older (and apparently expert driver) could just as easily miss something out on the road or a kid as a teen driver. So your telling me that you never adjust your radio while driving or do anything while you are driving I just can't believe that. I'm with got hemi on this. I just hate that teen drivers are automatically labeled as the worst drivers on the planet, and I can understand it to some extent because most are, but not every single one is retarded when it comes to driving. I just wish that people didn't think all teen drivers are rolling murderer's behind the wheel. I am sorry to the OP that this has exploded into this and I didn't want to keep this going but it's just one of the most annoying things I am told is that since I'm a teen I'm a freaking idiot behind the wheel of a 2 ton vehicle. As for the OP though I don't see why you need to get a dinky engine for your first truck my 5.9 was my first vehicle and I pretty much learned to drive with a 7.5L Ford 250. If you are confident in yourself I think you will be fine. When I first drove my truck by myself I thought I would be a badass and peel out leaving the school and I ended up hopping the curb and taking out a sign (thats why there is a dent in my front bumper ), but that was enough for me to realize what I was controlling and from then on I made sure I knew what I could and could not do with my truck. What I could handle and what not to ever do. I spent almost 2 months screwin around on vacant roads sliding around and figuring out how to correct slides and like I said the police in my area taught me alot since I am a cadet. Now I have never hit anything since my first oh **** moment and I am confident that I can control my truck to the best of my abilities. I mean if its icy or something your screwed anyway if you start a bad slide, but on the ice I drive a steady 10mph I don't give a damn what people think of me then I know that it is plain out retarded to do much more than that on solid ice. Once again to the OP I'm sorry it came to this. I wish that threads that went more than 2 pages didn't go into **** match every time.

I've been looking at a couple trucks, I've found a few nice ones but I'm a bit confused on the packages Dodge offers and the main differences between the trucks. I've been looking at Laramie's, SLT's and the Dodge Ram 1500 Sport.
