i dont see why not. the rating is a "prefered" fluid. when my trans pan was leaking i used all different kinds of tranny fluid to keep it filled. never had a problem with it. when i finally fixed everything i flushed it and used the factory trans fluid. im sure that as long as you do a complete flush and use just 1 type of trans fluid you should be fine. and while your doing that, change your tranny filters too.
Thats why I'm asking. I wanted to do change the filter and fluid, and was thinking about using TrickShift instead of the ATF+4 but wasn't sure about compatability. B&M states it's "compatable with all types of automatic tranmission fluid." But didn't know because we dont use Mercon or Dex... or whatever it's called.
Oh yeah, even if i drain the fluid and pull the pan, there's still gonna be a little fluid in the trans and torque converter right? How would I go about getting it out of there?
ATF+4 is synthetic. Not sure if the Trickshift would be a step up or down.
It is thicker than Type F for firmer shifts (much more the Dextron).
Persoanlly, I would stick with ATF+4. Walmart sells it.
Yeah best to stick with ATF+4. Mopar brand if you can get it. Most people dont realize how well factory brand transmission fluids compare to aftermarket brands when being used in the transmission it was intended for.
yes, stay with ATF+4. This fluid has friction additives that your transmission needs. Its not worth having to rebuild your trans just to put a different fluid in it. Especially with these not being the best trans ever made.
