aaahahahahahaaaaaa. That's too funny. Maybe he wasn't paying attention as he made it a year ago??, or he coulda just joshed you guys?
I just cleaned out my garage and I found a whole sheet of mesh that I had used for fixing a foundation. I think i just might try to see if I can't do something like that.

yeah, ive read through that time and again, i just didn't know if it would work seeing as how our trucks have a different grill and arent honey combed...if im just plain ingant (RF) about this, let me know! if it works, sweet. then im doing it Thursday and i MAY even go ahead and paint my headlights as well...ill have all day off

I can't imagine it being any different, just a bit more difficult to chop or 'dremel' the horizontal bars out. After just checking, at least for mine, behind each of the 4 horizontal sections there are 3 vertical support (narrow) pieces that can, if you can manage not to detach them, be used as Jay' used his Honeycomb sections for back support.

Like Jay said, just make sure you paint 'em, even though they are aluminum, they are prone to oxidize and discolor pretty quick in the elements. The ones I actually used ON MY GUTTERS, began discoloring within a couple months.
I did the front of my hood scoop and painted it with a chrome paint, then a good coat of polyurethane. So far, so good...
