Got *HID* Problems? Check in here...
06 ram i just put in 6000k high/lows with a relay kit and also fog hids. My problem is when i turn my lights on there is nothing. I put the brights on and the heads lights work. The fog lights work as the are supposed to. DRL work. Another stupid problem is when in DRL and signaling one way the head lights go out. What a pain in the butt. What can i do?
Hello so usually I don't have a problem installing hids I've installed over 200 in all makes but this new model has me stumped.
I have the hids ran, one would flicker then go out so I put a relay kit in. (Both the positive and negative wires to the relay are connected to the battery).
An I've replaced three relays and one ballast. I've heard people talking about the vag com and other things but I don't know how to fix this! The driver hid is the problem child and it goes out sometimes when you unlock the doors (lights come on). PLEASE HELP

Welcome to the site. Your title reads "blowing relays and ballasts". Have you been able to prove this? Have you be able to duplicate and replicate it to one side of the truck doing this?
Are you using xenon or bixenon or quad (being you have an 09)?
If the pass side if fine but the drivers side is the issue and if you have swapped the working components (pass side) to the non working side (drivers side) and it still does not work correctly with the previously proved working components then I would think a bad connection somewhere is to blame.

Here's one...I purchased Halo Projector Headlights with Side LEDs and added the HID kit. I had it installed this weekend as I was getting other work done on the truck. The HIDs come on only when I use the high beams (it looks great). The low beams suck (halogen) suck, but are ok/manageable with the fogs.
My question...isn't this backwards? Shouldn't the HIDs be 'on' in the low beams setting?
I did a chat w/ the vendor and they said "That's Dodge..there is no fix." I said, BS...and said you need to send me money back. They said call Customer Service...so, I did, and they called me back and left a message stating the problem was the bulb type. Now, that doesn't make any sense at all either. Not sure how/why the bulb would cause that issue (and I'm pretty sure the H1 would be required for the truck...I could be wrong...2008 Ram).
Now, if it was set-up like this b/c the HID out of the low in the projector looks like crap, I can deal with that. I just need to understand if some wires were crossed...or, if this is actually correct?
Any insight/thoughts appreciated. Thanks.

So I've read first few pages of this thread. My question is is there a DIY to put Morimoto projectors in OEM headlights for 03 ram? I'm sending my HId from hidnation back. Gone get the $145 refund and put it towards these projectors. Wanna do it the right way. Ill finish this question in a bit. Gotta run
Just a heads up on the experience i had earlier. I wasn't aware a capacitor could be wired up wrong. I ended up replacing my capacitors and turned the lights on for no more than 10 seconds. One light worked and the other didn't. Went to take the side out that didn't work and the capacitor was literally smoking hot. Took it out and put a new one in place the same way as the side that worked and everything is fine now. Please tell me i'm not the first person this has happened to. lol
On a more serious note.......how often do the capacitors go out on the HID's. I was told by HID support pretty often??
Is there anything else i can get and put in place of the capacitors so i'm not having to replace them every 6-8 months or is this the norm.
