Default Recommended air pressure?

Not leaving the state of Florida, will be an eight hour trip.
Leaving out tomorrow and will not be back to the fourth.
Going to be checking air pressure tomorrow and would like to have any feedback on what you guys would recommend to set the air pressure at.

LT295/60 R20
Air pressure 80 stamped on the tires..

Load range "E" tires, eh? I know people are gonna say this is high, but as a rule of thumb I keep my tires at 75-80% of the tire's recommended max pressure.

I know guys are gonna say "but the door panel say..." but the door panel assumes a stock size and load range tire...

I know guys are gonna say "but the door panel say..." but the door panel assumes a stock size and load range tire...
exactly... door pannel recomendations are the best split between traction, ride, mpg's, and tire wear, with stock size tires, however with wider/taller tires, i found running a bit lower psi is the best, but my big thing is tire wear, too much psi will wear out the center of the tire, too little will wear the edges,

the max psi on the tire is just a max rating the tire can handel with weight and temperature with out a failure, mine also have 80 psi rating on my ram but i only run 45 front, 40 rear (unless towing/heavyloaded) for my best results, but every truck is different, one good rule is, more psi= better mpg's, less traction, low psi= better traction lower mpg's but there is always the tire wear factor too...

Like others have said, I usually start at 75-80% of the max sidewall psi, then adjust from there if I notice the outer edge or middle wearing faster, but that is rare.

Hmmm...so 35psi is pretty low if my max is 80psi? So if you take 75%, I should be in the 60psi range? That would explain some of my MPG loss!!

My Coopers are rated at max 50psi and I run then at 35psi which is 70% their max. At 40psi the ride starts getting pretty stiff which is why i stick to 35.
