It seems that most manufacturers stopped making them way back in 09...... and one company that was doing them has since gone out of business. (KRC) Summit/Jegs/Rock Auto sell stock cams...... but no one seems to list the HO cams.... The most recent news I found was one guy contacted Crane Cams, and they would re-grind HIS cams..... but, it would take several weeks..... and he would be without his vehicle in the meantime. (as it doesn't run real well without cams....) Rock Auto has the stockers for around 110 EACH, you could conceivably buy a pair, and send THOSE out to be reground, but, no idea how much that costs....

yea thats weird because i found a couple of jeep websites that have 4.7 ho that are rebuilt for sale so u would think someone would still make them because a regrind will set me back at least 600$ i might as well buy a 4.7ho all remanufactured for $2800 shipped and swap it with the regular 4.7 my ram 1500 has and have 50 more horsepower from the start and already have the the better cam and compression

You are looking at a couple grand anyway..... probably 3-600 bucks for the cams, another 500 or so for custom tuning..... and peripheral expenses related to the change....
They work fine, you have to replace the lash caps if I remember right

It will run, but it will run BETTER with one

Another option is the 08+ 4.7 cams, they are similar to the HO's and more readily available

Can't drop an HO into your Ram, use a different tooth count crank if I remember right and other differences. If you wanted to go that far (especially monetarily), build your short block for higher compression, then slap on a set of 08+ heads with their cams and the 08+ intake manifold. If you can figure out how to fire both plugs and get a good custom tune, that should put you close to the 08+ 4.7's 310hp mark (and it still wouldn't give you the immediate punch of a gear swap).

I cannot personally verify that myself, however this was posted by Air Ram (runs a 4.7 performance site) on another forum:
Yes the 2008-UP cams do in fact fit ALL 4.7L engines.

The question is what are the gains to be expected?

I do not have any hard facts yet I have heard from several people who have installed them and they are all pleased with the gains provided. So we know there are gains, we just don't know how much of a gain,

Hope this helps

SPEED SAFE, AIR RAM

That's good enough for me that the cams are good to go, I recommend you email Nick (airram.com) and ask if he knows or is aware if the heads are good to go for retrofit.

Does anyone know what is involved in doing a cam swap in a 4.7l magnum in a ram 1500

Remove lots of crap in the way. Wiring harnesses, fuel rails, valve cover gaskets, heads, timing chain cover, etc. look up some videos and start learning. Lots of labor involved.

Have you done ANY searching through this forum or any other in your quest? Subjects like that have been covered almost ad nauseum in great detail with pictures. What do you actually want to do, as you seem to be all over the map on this thread?

Default 02 ram 1500 4.7l mods

im looking to mod my 02 ram 1500 4.7l v8 45rfe transmission to gain more power and improve the transmission. i already have a fastman throttlebody, k&n cai, transgo shift kit, sct tuner im looking to do mods that dont involve removing the motor, im also not looking to swap in a hemi or put in 4 56 gears . i keep piggy backing off this thread because i am unable to start a new thread for some reason
