Engine switch please help
Hello! I have a 2005 Ram 1500 with a 5.7 Ltr v8 but the engine is blown, I found a 2005 Ram 2500 with a 5.7 Ltr v8 motor, can I switch these without any problems, or just changing a few small things since same year? Any help would be really appreciated, thankyou!

I think they are relatively easy to get to, but, in an application that DOESN'T use MDS, there won't be connectors for them in any event. It is my understanding that the pcm energizes the solenoids to disable those cylinders, so, simply not having them hooked up *should* work just fine.
Now, if the truck the engine is going into actually HAS MDS, and expects things to change when it tries to engage it, (it will still cut fuel to those cylinders) THAT will be a problem. The engine block should be the same though, but, I think cam, and lifters are different as well, so, it isn't just a matter of adding the solenoids. Easier approach might be to disable MDS in the programming.
