I started to change out the fluid and found a few metal chunks in the pan. Look like the "CClip" and some other piece. There seems to be no metallic debris in the fluid, or not enough to notice if its there. I would like to know what I should do with this at this point, its still opened up because I saw some threads about the same problem, but non specifically address what is the best course of action to take at this point in the repair. I do not have the time or likely the necessary tools to do this myself.... what should I do? Metal from 2004 dodge ram 1500 4x4 differential
Limited slip. Are the pieces from the clutch retainers? I can see the c-clips that should be holding the axles in.
Ok, thanks. So the metal found at the magnetic in the first photo, how should i address this, button it up and keep driving, or repair... repair what exactly? Any guidance would be very helpful.
Need to determine where they came from. If those are indeed the c-clips for the axle, that's bad. The axle could potentially separate from the truck, and all sorts of excitement ensues..... if they are the clutch retainer clips, you should fix it fairly soon..... but, not quite as dangerous.
