Is the compressor engaging? If so, is it short cycling? Is the condensor fan under the hood coming on? Could also be a blend door problem.

Well, I'll tell you right now, an A/C fan getting caught in a fan shroud would not really cause less air to blow through your vents. It has very little to do with how much air blows through your vents. What it does do is pull air through the A/C evaporator (looks sort of like a smaller radiator), which helps cool the air coming into the cab (on recycle or not). It is important, but not for pushing air through the vents.

Now, my a/c doesn't blow cold air at all. $45,000...65k miles and I don't have an A/C!
I'll bite my tongue a bit on this one and try to be polite. It isn't worth $45k anymore, no where near it, and its 4 years old. It will have an occasional problem, all vehicles do when they start getting a few miles on them.

yeah, it's an OLD thread, but it's STILL an issue, I know a good 12-14 people who live either in north Florida or south Georgia with Megas and EVERY ONE of them bi^ches about how poor a job the A/C does in the warmer months.

In EVERY case they take it to the dealer, the dealer sticks a thermometer in the A/C vent, reads it, and says - "within spec" and that's been it. As long as there is an iota of air coming out the vent at whatever the magical "in spec" is, they are SOL if the cab is 97*.

I'm always accused of being blindly PRO Dodge and Rams, but I'll be the first to cry foul on issues that go TOO LONG without being acknowledged and resolved by Chrysler and this is one of them...

Does putting a valve on the heater core hoses to stop water coolant from trickling through the core help you guys?

Default solution?

I do not have a mega-cab, but have noticed the a/c in normal configuration doesn't cut the mustard in hot weather. It was okay when I lived in Utah, but after moving to Texas not so good. A some-what popular mod is to either splice in a diverter valve or a cap into the heater hose(s). Why? Hot coolant circulates through the heater core all the time, by design (tsk, tsk). So, the a/c unit is trying to cool that while cooling the cab?! I bought a heater valve for an older Jeep, clamped the heater hoses, cut them, hose clamped the Jeep valve in and tie wrapped it shut. Now the a/c blows noticeably colder!
I can't attach any pictures here, but I did put a couple in my garage.
[edit] Pictures are posted. I also added a brief explanation for each; hope this helps. https://dodgeforum.com/forum/members...oler-also.html

Awesome tip !

But....I'm not sure exactly what you did or where that is in the engine bay. I'm saying this before looking (call me lazy....lol but my truck is at the dealer)

Thanks again !

@Fav40, if you are facing the engine bay with the hood up, look at the passenger side of the engine. There are two heater hoses running along the valve cover. Those are the ones you want. Don't mistake the A/C line for one of them! It is pretty close by. I spliced the heater valve into the two heater hose lines. I could have gone with a heater hose plug or two, but didn't find a shop with the right size... Besides, with the valve, I can switch it back in winter without getting coolant all over.
