Inspector62 and others.

I also have Megacab 1500 with Hemi and the AC is not adequate by all means. I'll try to be as civil as possible and be nice, but the AC SUCKS. And believe me I do not have high demands from life, I know not everything is perfect, but it takes about 30 min to cool the cab of the MC to a comfortable level and then once you open the door to let someone in or out, it's hot again. At the first oil change I went to the dealer and complained. They said the system was overcharged and adjusted the amount of freon. I get on the road and I get no AC at all. Some tube/filter element failed and had to be replaced. Now it's ok since the winter is around the corner, but when it was 90-100 F here in NY/NJ, the AC was not performing as it should. My wife's Sequoia with a huge cabin volume gets freezing cold within 2 minutes, and there is no comparison between those 2 system. And for everyones info, all Megacabs have rear vents at the bottom of the center console.

Inspector62 has a point.

I too am a mega cab owner, but in Alabama. I completely agree that the AC is underpowered. My plan is to tint the two front windows to match the rear windows and maybe use a window shade for the front window. Oh well, I will do my part to report it to the dealership.

I live in Arizona and it gets plenty hot. I have a 2006 Megacab with dark tinted windows. Not sure this is a problem with all Megacab A/C's as mine works fine! We hit 110 in the summer and I have no problem cooling down my cab, even after a long day with it sitting in the sun. Perhaps it is a problem with your A/C and not a design problem

I have 5% in the back and 30% in the front and it keeps the truck plenty cool. It works just fine in my opinion.

As best as i could research, the quad cab has 143.3 cubic feet interior space and the megacab has 145.2 cubic ft. Normally, that small change in volume shouldn't warrant a large difference in cooling efficiency between the two cabs. However, you also have to factor in the fluid flow and thermodynamics of the situation. The rear vents in the megacab are placed between the front seats, at foot level. I'm sure we all know that hot air rises and cool air drops, due to density differences. So the best reasoning for why the megacab doesn't cool as well is the vent design and placement, not necessarily the a/c system itself. And as far as the truck that was tested with the a/c on that was over the outside temp after running for some time, if that truck was sealed, and probably sitting in the sun, the temp inside was at least 120, assuming the vehicle was closed for at least 20 min. (assuming the truck was not rushed in immediately to get worked on, also remember that the longer it sits in the sun the hotter it gets.) So in conclusion, the only thing Chrysler could do to truly "fix" this problem would be to install some new form of venting, to increase cold air circulation. Not to be a downer, but the odds of them reengineering the interior of the megacab to increase cooling efficient are next to none, and I'm not very confident that a judge would force them to pay megacab owners on the basis that you had the chance to test drive it before hand, and then chose to purchase it.

I dunno dude I think there might be something else playing in here. I know for a fact tah thte ac cools a quad cab very well as i've ridden in 2500 qc CTD's which have a harder time than the hemi to cool because of all the intercoolers and such. The mega cab isn't that much bigger so I don't see how you can go from cooling more than adequately to not being able to cool at all with the addition of a few more cubic feet. Personally I'm thinking it is more of a problem with the a/c itself not the design

Hi, just purchased a 2006 MegaCab, took it to vegas and had the same problem.

Could not get it to cool!

the front end on it has problems.

I am very disapointed in this product. I purchased for the cummins engine, but the rest sucks.

I have owned this truck 2 weeks and have asked the dealer for my money back (wait and see).

I there is a lawsuit count me in!

I spent 35,000 of hard earned money on a product that did not deliver on the Dodge promise.

Is your only problem with the air conditioning? What exactly are your front end problems? I have an 06 mega CTD and I have none of the problems you mention, you might have a bad apple.

I too have a Megacab, but mine is the Laramie, so I have a nice sunroof which helps get a little airflow. Bummer though, 'cause now the fumes & noise from the Honda generator running in the bed (powers the window-mount air conditioner I bought at Home Depot)get sucked in through the sliding rear window which I have open a crack (for the power cable from the generator which runs the big air conditioner, ya know).

Good thing I got the towing mirrors, otherwise that air conditioner sticking out of the off-side rear window would block my view of the Happenings In the Slow Lane.....

Seriously, class-action lawsuits should be reserved for righting the more important injustices, like the *#@!! crappy cupholders in the 06 Megacab. My cans of Fosters Ale won't fit & that really stews my prunes....& I thinkDodge should have to write a huge check, maybe shut down a few plants & lay off a bunch of workers, that would teach a lesson they would not soon forget!

Time for my meds...

Houston is the same way. I drive a 2003 Hemi Quad cab and the AC on it still has a hard time cooling the truck. I routinely just say "Screw the ac" if I'm on the freeway and roll the windows down. I'm pretty sick of it and as a result I have the windows down almost constantly. The fact that there is no A/C in the back of the vehicle only makes things worse. Lemme know what you dig up.
