New seat cover from engineering is in. Taking it in tomorrow.
He said the preforated leather down the middle seemed thicker. Otherwsie its the same. I have my doubts its any different.

We/I will compare the two covers before installing the new. Talked to him about that. Said he did not have a device to measure the thickness.
I assume I will be able to tell if its thicker by touch.

Should be per the emails, but.....I will let you know tomorrow. Just letting you know the new seat cover from engineering has arrived at my dealership. This is the preforated heated/cooled ventilated seat cover.
Just take their word that it's a new and improved seat cover and see if it works. You really cant refuse the repair and still argue that you have a problem.
It may be possible that the fix is not visible to the eye or touch. If you have a problem after this then I'd hate to be them!

I am very familiar with the seat issue as I have seen it on a truck that I test drove. The truck had under a hundred miles on it. I noticed it before I read this thread. Once I read the thread I was worried the truck I ordered would have this problem. Almost 2000 miles and I have not seen the problem in my truck yet but every time I jump out of my truck, my eyes go right to the seat to see if it survived the trip!

Give the new cover a try and we'll all keep our fingers crossed!

These seats wear after a few hundred miles in some cases, I don't think a slightly thicker material will do it

They don't have a caliper at the dealership to measure thickness with?

And thickness isn't necessarily the determining factor. It could even be thinner yet still be stronger if it's a different type of leather or if it's been treated differently.

Hopefully this cover will do the trick.

Keep up the hard work guys, it seems like things may be happening. I will also show this to our resident parts guy who works at a Dodge dealer to see if he can ruffle some feathers.

Funny,

It was suggested by the dealership I buy a cover for the seat.
Then it was suggested I pay $1200.00 to have a better leather sewn in.

I can see paying for a cover if I plan on driving it while I am dirty.
Should not have to add a cover to protect the seat from a clean me.
Sure as hell not paying $1200.00 for Chryslers mistake.

Latest suggestion was to bring it in for a new seat cover each time it needed it. That is what I am doing tomorrow....a month late.
For my body thats about 10 hours. I will be able to tell if its different by the time I get home. I have done this before.

Of course I am going to have them install this new cover regardless.
My truck, you don't know me. I am going to look at what they are putting in my truck. Service director and I talked about a micrometer.
Both of us not sure how to do that since the material in question is down the middle. I do not want to fold that part of new seat cover.

I should feel a diffence if there is one. I doubt it but lets hope. My problem is that there is NO documentation stating any changes were made to the seat cover. Also just have the drivers side seat cover. I expected both sides if they were going to "fix" the seats permanently.
Everyone at the dealership just assumes is a new better seat cover based on emails that do not really say a thing.
Seems more politics than a real design improvement. Say what you want me to hear without really saying anything at all. Yes sir, We are doing something, we are on it. You are a priority. Give me a break.

We will see. I am pessimisitic about this. Can't help it.

Lets hope its a fix and we can end this thread on a happy note for all.

Blue,
I know exactly how you feel. I'm the same way. It's only that slight hope that remains inside, "well what if this works" and "I can't continue fighting them unless I let them make a next step"
It looks from everything in this forums that Chrysler did not make any major changes to the leather type they are using. To me it looks like they simply hope that if one seat shrinks, they'll throw another one and HOPE it works. That in itself is sign of inability to really address the problem. Sucks, as the rest of the truck looks so good.
I hope it works for you Blue and I hope it does not happen to mine when it arrives in a few weeks

Yesterday my dealer knew nothing of a new and improved seat and that was after they called chrysler about it.

Every single dealer that I have talked to denies the fact that this is an issue. They just look at me like i am a dumbass. It looks like those with leather seats that arent cooled are safe right?

I would guess the solid leather is a safe buy.
I asked them to disable my ventilation and put solid leather in mine.
Said they would suggest that to Chrysler and that was the last I heard of that.

I looked at the new seat cover today. Looks the same on the top.
Feels the same.
First time I have seen the underneath so not sure about that yet.

I asked the service director to take a picture of the underneath of the seat cover they take out of my truck. I am hoping to see something new.
Sent me home in a rental car. More issues than just the seat. I want everything fixed for the last time. 3rd attempt to fix my remote start but thats another story. For me its all one story.

I asked again what was different and the service director had no answer.

Time will tell.
I took lots of pictures of the box and the cover....and my worn seat.
