Seat wear
I got a replacement cover, brought my truck with the new seat cover home Friday 4/17/09.
Already streched as I have shown....worse now..will be worn out again in two weeks.
I have not given up. I have been pissed about this but never plannned to sell the truck over it....if I siad that somewhere I was venting.
Asked folks to post pictures and write ups so more attention can be brought to this seat wear problem. I can use them if Chrylser survives.
Problem right now is Chrysler...Cerberus Capital Management?
I will never give up getting this problem resolved as long as there is a company.
I will have mine fixed either way. Its bothering me and that will not do!!!!
Not selling the truck over this. I have my stance but I am not real stupid.

Have you taken the truck to one or two interior places to have them diagnose the problem in their opinion?
You should get estimates in writing from the third party companies. This will give you other opinions/explanations from professionals who work with interiors for a living. This will also give you an idea of after market repair costs.
The written diagnoses or opinions would certainly prove valuable in court or with the manufacture/supplier.
Maybe they even have a quick fix?

I asked the service pro at my dealership to look at my seat without the cover.
He said it was the same seat as all the others with heated cooled option.
I do not feel like I am sinking when I sit.
I Looked for a good interior shop around where I live. I have talked to a couple but have not taken it to one yet.
Until last week I was told I was getting a new design seat cover. Never believed it and a new design seat cover turned out to be a lie.
Just new, same old failing cover.
I am going to Birmingham and Atlanta soon as I get things lined up. Lived a while in both places. I know car people and shops there.
Interior place at my dealership said the could fix both front seats for $1200.00. Their suggestion, a heavier leather sewn in the center part.
My suggestion, do it for free and be rid of me.
They have an interior specialty shop. So they say.
If I pay to have it fixed right..permanently, it sure won't be to Chrysler.

Forgive me if I have not read enough to find this out but are leather seats available that are heated but NOT ventilated, thus eliminating the perforated portion of the seat that has the duraability problems?
I am very close to ordering a Laramie Crew Cab and I appreciate the wealth of experience and good discussion that I have found on this board. If possible I would like to have leather interior without the perforations and cooling that comes with it.
Cheers!

Assume they meant a heavier preforated leather. Do not really know.
I am not planning to pay Chrysler for their deisign mistake.
I got a letter from Chrysler today telling me to take it in and get another seat cover.
I sent them a picture of the two week old cover. This one is wearing worse than the other two and it supposidly went through the QC test.
I am not real sure about Laramies. They are doing something about these seats. You can't just buy a cover anymore. I have no idea and I suspect the seat cover is not real high on Chrysler's priority list. Despite my efforts to make it a priority...and I am still writing all those places I posted, most every day.
If you build a laramie. http://www.dodge.com/en/
Get the leather trimmed 40/20/40 Bench Seat, its not ventilated.
Get the leather trimmed bucket seats and you get ventilated.
That is why I have it. I wanted the buckets and center shifter.
I did not order mine but my search was from Texas to North Carolina.
I looked at 100's of trucks. All with buckets had the ventilated seat.
Did not look for bench...wish I had. Happy enough with my old bench seat Dodge Ram...and your babe can slide next to ya.
Talk to your dealer they may be offering a solid leather; heated only; bucket in Laramies.
I know you can get a SLT with everything the Laramie has but the chrome clad mirrors. Fancier chrome clad wheels. My current 2009 SLT Sport has more options than the 2009 Laramie I had.
Heavy duty oil and tranny cooling, 32 gal tank, GPS, 508W Alpine etc etc

Read through this thread for the first time, thought it was interesting, and while I ultimately decided not to buy a new Ram, should pass this on...
Gut feeling is this is not uncommon, or strictly a Dodge/Chrysler issue. This spring, we were shopping for a new vehicle for the woman. She was very interested in the Lincoln MKX. It had heated/cooled seats. I noticed after the test drive the seat surface was very wrinkled up, as bad or worse then the pics I've seen on here. While I've seen notes about weighs around 180's on here, my girl is under 130.
While at the dealership, I looked at other Lincolns, and noted that any seat I saw with this style of interior was prone to wrinkling/wear.
Not sure this means anything to anyone, but thought I'd share.

Ediasa, Jaurez mexico. Owned by Johnson controls.
Ediasa supples Chrysler, Ford, GM, Toyota and maybe more.
Those 4 as of 2003.... looking at an old federal registry.
Ediasa's imports to the US auto industry is huge.
The label on the box my seat cover came in.
I got with Dodge parts, this number is not in the system. Parts guy said it was not a correct number for Dodge Parts. Its a supplier number.
Made me think; just maybe; it was new seat cover. Same seat cover, different package.
