Seat wear
Read through this thread for the first time, thought it was interesting, and while I ultimately decided not to buy a new Ram, should pass this on...
Gut feeling is this is not uncommon, or strictly a Dodge/Chrysler issue. This spring, we were shopping for a new vehicle for the woman. She was very interested in the Lincoln MKX. It had heated/cooled seats. I noticed after the test drive the seat surface was very wrinkled up, as bad or worse then the pics I've seen on here. While I've seen notes about weighs around 180's on here, my girl is under 130.
While at the dealership, I looked at other Lincolns, and noted that any seat I saw with this style of interior was prone to wrinkling/wear.
Not sure this means anything to anyone, but thought I'd share.

I honestly didn't put much thought into it, but figured it was just something I'd have to live with with that type of seat. Thin material with holes certainly doesn't convey strength and form. I could see how a firmer seat would help a lightweight material move less.
It ultimatly is the auto manufacturer's design team.
In this case Chrysler failed.
Ediasa 1 made the seat cover per Chryslers designers drawings and specs.
As far as two with the same seat cover having different results.
Pretty much agreed upon here that if the load is spread out across the seat less or no damage occurs.

I think this is interesting, and going to follow it to see if anything comes of it, but to be honest, I doubt anything will.
Yes, it stinks you've paid out the $ for the high end version of the truck, but guessing if you look at the numbers, you are probably the minority truck buyer with this package. Lets say 20 percent of the trucks purchased have these seats, and even half of those people happen to have a body type that causes premature wear of the seat...Only 10% of one model line is affected. Seems they have bigger things to worry about with the bailouts and such, and since it's not a human safety issue, you're on the back burner.

I too had always said (and followed) the idea that I would never buy the first model year of any vehicle and oftentimes bought the 2nd year. However, this Dodge was just too nice and the incentives were just too sweet to pass it up.
If Chrysler wanted to save money in the long run, they should just pay to have the seat fixed by another shop, and pass the liability on to them. But, if they just want to keep replacing seat covers, that's just the route we'll have to take I guess.

I'd be curious to look through other forums and see if other makes are complaining about this with the similar material. This is a relatively new option for all manufacturers, and have a feeling they probably all have some unhappy customers. I believe the Lincoln we were looking at was 50k, and the reason we walked away is I didn't want to spend the money on a vehicle that had a wrinkled up seat when you got out of it.

I know your working through the "service Director" but replacing the seat cover this many times with the same failed product is poor management and a piece of the puzzle why Chrysler is in trouble.
Write some letters to some of Chrysler's VP's at World Headquarters over here in Auburn Hills, MI. I'm sure the left hand would like to know what the right hand has been doing (wasting time & money).

Concerning the abnormal seat wear in the 2009 Dodge Ram with the Heated and Cooled Ventilated seat option.
Robert Nardelli CEO and Chrysler Vice Chairman Jim Press and a host of others have recived certified letters of Non Conformity from my attorney.
Johnson Controls Automotive has been added and duplicate copies with the addition sent.
Chrysler in Auburn Hills is very aware of this seat wear problem.
Chrysler of Auburn Hills send me the letters to my truck to the dealership for repair. Used to call me.....sniff
My dealerships hands are tied...so they say. Chrysler will only pay them to replace my seat cover.
I run a small company. I do whatever it takes to make sure my customers are 100% satisfied. If one customer has a problem that is going to cost me my profit, so be it. I will take care of it. Been there.

I never buy a first run either. Looked at 2008's then looked at 2009's.
My personal rule went out the door.

We will see. I will not beat a dead fish.
