I am not sure how you are starting in 2nd. The auto stick limits the upshift, but allows full downshifting. If you are stopped, you are in 1st. This is unlike most GM products that allow you to lockin 2nd gear for "ice and slippery conditions." If I am wrong, please instruct me on how you operate your transmission to start in 2nd.

I have no problems with my 09 at all. It rides alot better than my 07 did. Bottom line everyone likes it and dodge did one hell of a job on this one.

Dr. Bill is correct. You're still starting in 1st, just not manually shifting from 1st to 2nd.

I hear you guys on the aluminum hood. I was hoping that it was heat treated like the Audi hood and trunks. The heat treating makes the aluminum very stiff and much less likely to dent than steel panels. I live in N. TX and the baseball size hail in Cooke County last night was an example of what all of us in the midwest fear for several months in the spring and summer.

Unhappy

I like my new 09! Don't love it like I did my 06 Ram! Maybe some day it will grow on me but we will see. 1st off not pleased with the fit and finish of 09 truck, rubber seal between mirror and door coming out, 2nd when its cold the windshield rattles some where havent found location, and 3rd I tow a 26ft Tow hauler and averaged 10-11 with my 06 this one only 8.6 was not happy.

I don't own a 4th gen Ram... I find less head room in the 09 Ram, I;m 6 ft 4 and the 3rd gen has more head room, I also find the sun visors are way to close, even with the drivers seat all the way back.

Also, thier still the cheap foam inserts betwean the cab and fenders, just like the 3rd gen Rams

Now I'm not as keen on the 09 Ram, as I look at othier products, I'm finding I'm drawn to a ( bad word in Dodge country ) I own a 2500 Ram and I'm looking for a more economical means of 2nd transport.

About the gas mileage, how many miles are on the truck?

No complaints, love this truck. Former 3x next gen F150 owner here. Owned an 04 F150 FX4, 05 Lariat and and 06 FX4. Back in 04, passed up on a Ram sport in favor of the new designed F150. However now, I think Dodge did a great job with the 09. Saw an 09 Ram and 09 F150 parked side by side at New Holland Auto Group in PA. F150 looked kinda puney next to it, Ram is a nice beefy looking truck compared to the F150 and now with the padded stitched dash and center console, I like the interior better. And the HEMI with the 3.92 rear, no brainer.. ohh, one complaint, where are the custom tuners ?? Been to quite a few dyno days with the F150's. Good time and good way to meet everyone, not to mention your truck would run its a$$ off when you left.. I understand it will take a few months to perfect the tunes for the 09 but are there any Dodge custom tuners around you guys can recommend ?

this may be true but it damn sure doesnt feel like 1st gear. i tap the shifter left to activate the auto stick and then tap it right so it says "2" on on the EVIC and then take off and upshift normally as i leave the losers on the dust lol

My truck has been great, but since I park in the garage I wish it had power folding exterior mirrors. I have to get out and manually fold them in so that I can fit through the garage door opening. My 2001 Ford Supercrew 4wd fit just fine w/o having to fold in the mirrors.
