Default Last word on vvt vct and fuel saver

I have been waiting for a answer from detriot this is what I got from them. should settle the issue.

First Eight of VIN:
Odometer: 2200
Customer Concerns: Our dodge 09 customers with pre dec build trucks want to have the fuel saver light on there vehs is there a way to turn it on or will there be a flash? Question #2 The trucks with VCT engine vs the VVT engine whats the differnce I get this ? daily

Resolution:
[Updated Time: 2009-06-01 12:05:34.563] STAR advised that the fuel saver light is not available for pre Dec built vehicles and there is not information if there will be a flash to address this concern. The 5.7L Eagle engine is equipped with Variable Cam Timing (VCT). This system advances and/or retards the camshaft timing to improve engine performance, mid-range torque, idle quality, fuel economy, and reduce emissions, (V V T is the same just called something different). No Case Indicator: NoNo Case Reason: Update Time: 06/01/2009

Oh well, thanks for keeping us informed. Maybe if we keep on them they will see the need for a fuel saver flash, maybe.

My truck was built after Dec but before March. Has the VCT Hemi and the Fuel Saver light. So the VCT can do the light, the question is, what changed in Dec for them to say it is not possible.

after working in the car buz for 25 years It was prob a after thought some enginer says hey lets add a fuel light , so they did , One thing I know is that enough people complain they will make a falsh to fix it they may allready be working on it but we wont know until they release it, Its just a update that has the pcm talk over the can bus to the cluster and say hey mds in on then the cluster say ok and turns on teh light no differnt then your check eninge light or temp light ect. Its just a software issue they can reprogram if they want .

That's what I've been telling people since the question got asked. There is no magical different engine in some dodge trucks that can somehow vary intake and exhaust valve timing independently of each other.

About flashing the pcm or ecm to get the mds light, if the writing is not even on the plastic there will be no just flashing and I cant see them paying to have a new EVIC system just for an idiot light.
