4.7 Vs. Mustang GT, Mustang got beat!
i am going to belive the 4.7 ram guy, i have a 2005 4.7 dakota with a few mods an can whoop a$$ on hemi rams. granted the weight difference is a major factor but so is the 125 shot of nitrous, i have only came across to vechicles that i cant beat in a street race, 1, 1987 buick grand national, 2, subaru wrx turbo all wheel drive. i have seen nissan maximas eat up mustang gts all night long in the street. an yes. it all depends on the driver an if you can hook coming off the line,

I've got an '02 Mustang GT 4.6L with 3.73 gears now and previously had an '02 with ~3.27 gears and a '95 with 2.73s and I'd put my money on any of them against my '08 Ram with a 4.7L 6-speed so long as I was driving the car.
Quite possibly the kid couldn't drive or it was a V6 posing as a GT. I used to race guys with LT1 camaro's in my 95 GT and beat them solely because I could drive despite their >50hp advantage. They'd usually tromp the automatic and spin through 1st and I'd have them. (stoplight racing so I'd beat them to 55 or so and then let off)
Arguing on the internet is like entering the special olympics.
I didn't notice this thread was 6 pages long when I posted that. Looks like I got in a little late and everything had already been covered. I'll try and keep up next time like that poor kid in the mustang. Bottom line, street racing don't mean sh$t but it sure is fun. Like riding a moped, it can be fun but don't brag about it.
I once beat a '69 Chevelle 454 with my '95 Mustang GT but I know that I only won because he melted the tires on the start and our stopping point was way past a quarter where he ran out of gear.

Our trucks are quick for what they are, but my grandmother could whip a 4.7 ram with a modern mustang gt.
Compared to what's out there on the street these days, both the ram and pony car are tame.
You want to see fast try taking on one of these:
