I would love to have one of these but its just not worth throwing a lifetime powertrain warranty in the garbage. I'm sure the dealer will find something else to void it but a tuner just makes it too easy for them.

Will the tune be able to be erased - for example, if returned to stock tune from a superchips tune, would a dealer be able to detect?

Any idea when the trans options will be released?

Can't wait to purchase mine

The Superchips programmer does not leave any residual info in your programmer that is readily noticed by the dealer unlike some of our competition.

That being said returning to stock resets everything to 0 similar to removing the batt cables for cleaning so I usually recomend a user return to stock a day or two before going back to service so they have some driving data saved in the PCM.

I am sorry that I don't have a guaranteed date on the trans tuning at this time but hopefully it will be soon.

The stock tune is tuned the way it is so the truck can handle it with a long life. That's fine to change it but at least own up to it if something fails. You play you pay!

This is a must have here.. These automatics shift like someone driving a manual trans and is lazy on the clutch, especially at partial throttle when down shifting. Also feels like the torque converter never hits lockup.

I was going with Diablo until a few posts here on ping and cold weather issues, so this is good timing here.

Scott, so without the trans tune option released yet, if we order the tune released now has :
firmed up the shift pressures for all gears ( up shift and down shift, partial and WOT ) ?
reduced torque management ?

I may be good with the defaults here this since I am not into tinkering and a noticeable improvement would be good enough. Just want to flash and forget it.

thanks for all the answers so far, good thread.

Torque management is significantly reduced in the base tuning and there's support for WOT 1-2, 2-3 shifts. There's also a Superchips proprietary shift schedule included with all the tuning. That isn't adjustable, other than WOT shifts mentioned. What the expanded trans options will allow is complete adjust-ability at part throttle for all shift points (1-4 up / 2-5 down) and the ability to tweak torque management even further.

Thanks Sil, nice.. one more Q - when the expanded trans options are ready for primetime here, how do I get it if I order a Cortex today. Is it a free download-able update to the flash device or optional to purchase?

Hey I got the superchips. Tried to update it online and it says the calibration for your vehicle is not currently supported.

It will work. They just need to add your calibration to the database.

Just make sure you plug it into the online updater again and it will send your file to Superchips. They'll e-mail you when it's ready.
