Default 2010 Brake Controller Bezel

Is it possible to modify the 2010 trim Bezel to accept an aftermarket controller. I like the clean look that the 2010's have and would like the same look. I have a 2005 Ram with the tow package and it has the 7 way trailer plug at the back. So I think it would be just plug and play. I really don't want to be picky but screwing a mounting bracket under my dash isn't what I had in mind. Does anyone have any ideas?

Default 2005 Ram 1500 Trim

Where the brake controller on the 2010 ram is located, does the same trim piece on my 2005 pop out?

Just removed the pocket on my 2010 and it has 2 screws in it. 1 behind the side cover,1behind the piece below the steering wheel.Tried myself for a few minutes then took it to a body shop friend.Even had him tricked for a few minutes.

thanks for that tip, I'm going to try that and see if I can stuff a generic brake controller in that slot and try to make it look presentable, other than that I could mount it under but banging my knees on a brake controller is a pain

Cut the bottom of the pocket out so the controller can go in further.

did you take the whole thing out first before cutting it, or did you cut it while it was still in place?

what did you use to cut it with?

Took it out.Took a dremel tool and cut it off about halfway up.Did not mount the controller per se.Just shoved it in as far as you could and plugged it up.It can be removed real easy if needed etc.

Just finished installing the oem brake controller in my 2010.Cost $180.00 cdn for controller and bezel.Took about 15 minutes to plug it in and install.Looks like factory.

Default 05 Ram Trim

Does anyone know if the same location can be used on my 2005 for the brake controller? If not I've heard of someone installing the controller in their ash tray and wondered how it could be done. But I would rather have it look factory if I can. Thx.
