2012 Dodge Ram HEMI, Brand New, 2,000miles, Engine Knock - UPDATE!
Picked up my truck today. They said all fixed.
I started it up, and immediately heard a similar knocking sound as before, but slight more high pitched metallic sounding, but very similar, but alot quieter then before, almost unnoticable, and right away after starting. Before, you'd have to wait 5-6 minutes for the noise to appear. I drove around for 15 minutes, and parked it, and no knock. Before, there would be a knock after driving for 15 minutes.
So... a similar knock is still there, but very quiet, but I've only started it once. We'll let it sit overnight tonight, start it up in the AM, and see what she does. I'll keep testing / listening to it to see if the noise is still there for sure, and how similar it is.

Update after 200kms. I can still hear the knock. It's quieter but still there. It doesn't happen as often as before, which was 100%. I will continue testing / driving it throughout the holidays and see how it is then.
Check with your Attorney General's Office (or the Canadian office) to your rights. To the south, most states have lemon law statutes. Here in New Jersey, the requirement is 4 occurrences totaling 30 days or more and they have to buy back or give you a new vehicle. Sounds to me they are doing a half assed repair. Good Luck

...anyhow, SC tuners dont leave log info behind, BUT diablo is rumored to leave a foot print. but i`m no expert on that.
Lets just say i`ve seen it done to another truck recently.

Just out of curiosity, did they try and polish the crankshaft journals? Or did they just replace the upper and lower bearings, replace the undersized piston and call it a day.
If this was out-sourced to a machine shop, I can't believe anyone qualified in the right mind would ignore the scoring on the journals. Although it's hard to see depth clarity within your photos, I've seen bearings and journals with less abuse after 100k+ miles. I'm just guessing they were to cheap to regrind, knowing attempting to polish the journals wouldn't be sufficient.
Who knows, but if the audible is already distinctive, take it back, the band-aid fix was a fail.

my bet is, they never even bothered to measure a thing, they just thru another piston in and slapped some bearings in it. I`ll take a wild guess the cylinder is out of spec, and the crank is out now too. Thats likely where the knock is comin from.(AGAIN...!!!!) And i totally agree with you 100%, it was just a band-aid fix just to blow him out the door. Their hope is either he goes away, or worse yet, out of warranty when it finally blows.
