I think Dodge is just waiting for all the trucks to hit the bone yard.....
Taking far, far, far, far, far, far, far, too long to take care of their customers on a "Safety" recall. Obviously they simply don't give a schlitz about safety or they would have done something a long, long, long, long, long, long time ago.
I have gotten recalls on my Toyota and even on my Imprezza that were taken care of in a matter of weeks or days even. It is now over 6 MONTHS. To go this long is simply unacceptable, for a safety recall. I'll just keep making my weekly report to the NHTSA and advise anyone else that gives a crap to do the same.

BTW if you get a nasty response from your dealer about this remind them of the letter they got.... Here is the last sentence of that letter.

We ask that you please take the time to ensure that your personnel are aware of this communication and are prepared to execute a customer friendly process for inquiries on involved vehicles.

I don't understand what is taking so long to get the parts, on the other hand I'm also not hearing about any more pinion nuts falling off and a lot of us have a ton of miles on these trucks. If the recall made me nervous, I'd just peen the thread on the pinion and call it done.

I can only imagine that if you have the lifetime powertrain warranty and that even though there is a recall if you do anything to the truck they will call it messed with and release themselves of any liability.....Knowing Dodge anyway....

There has been a protocol put in place. Something new apparently. I am not 100% sure if it's a Chrysler thing or a Gov thing. There is a preliminary letter sent out as to acknowledge the issue ahead of a recall fix. Even if there is no fix even ready to go. This is not the only "recall" like this lately BTW. IMO, it makes it aggravating for everyone. Blame NHTSA or Chrysler? Who knows?

Makes me wonder if the NHTSA is actually following up on their demands for the safety recall(s). Ther should be laws made, stating how long a manufactuer is allowed to go without doing anything, no matter who is holding it up. I do agree, this is just unacceptable for how long this is taking... but in the same sense though, i`m not putting 100% total blame on chrysler, ZFmanufactuering might likely be the problem. We already know ZF cant build a WORTHY differential.... which makes me also think, maybe ZF sent chrysler a bunch of junk inferior replacement recall parts and they didnt pass chryslers inspections. Chrysler engineers probably tested a few (likely because they now know ZF has quality issues) and the parts aren`t passing their testing standards. Maybe before its all done, chrysler might go back to the AAM axles in the 1/2 ton trucks, at least AAM stepped up when they had the "C" clip issues, it was addressed, and fixed right away. I bet the 13 trucks will follow soon with bad differentials if they continue using ZF products...! Oh well, thats what happens when you put quantity before quality. All of the BIG3 are guilty of it... high profits + low quality = GREED

Dropped mine off at the dealer today. I will (politely) ask the service manager what he knows about this. My 09 with 3.92 was built 11_08 but I did not get any notice in the mail. I have made 11 visits for my 09 to be repaired, all under lifetime warranty. Good thing about the warranty, you name it, its been rebuilt or replaced. MOST of my issues are the result of what the dealer did wrong for another repair.......its now a never ending loop. Bring it in for one problem, leave with another. The Dealer has been apologetic and accommodating but I just ONCE wish I could get it back without any additionally induced issues. I have no doubt that when this repair is done, something else will be messed up. I am not dealer bashing, all I want is the truck back running like it should, no more, no less. Sadly, I have given up on that.........

I greatly sympathize with you, trust me, i do. Seems to be the trend everywhere, and not just automobiles either.

Thanks, its been very very frustrating. Throughout it all, I have been patient and polite and they have been the same. They know they have made mistakes that are contributing to the problems but me going off on them wont help anything. They keep advising me to trade this truck off given its long history of issues. Unfortunately, I am in no position to do that. I wont take off on any long distance trips because I fear being stranded - that's why you buy a new vehicle is to avoid that fear, right?

I agree budd, like you, i`m in the same untrustworthy sinking boat of lame dealerships in my area just like you. What i DO disagree with is, a dealership telling you to trade it in givin the history of it. So, according to this dealership, whenever you have a problem, you`re supposed to just trade in the vehicle...??? Thats just BS..! Tell that dealership to hire worthy technicians and fix the problems... and fix them right the first time. In your case, i dont believe its the truck that is the issue at hand, its the lame dealership that seems very uncapable of doing the repairs correctly. Have you contacted chrysler about any of this...??? If so, when & what was resolved.

My apologoes to the OP for diverting your thread. No I have not *yet* contacted Chrysler........just informed they have to do a "tear down" on the engine to locate the source of the noise...whatever a tear down means it probably is not good, again.
