Do I have a bad sensor if the scan tool and the dash are reading 2 different temperatures?

So far as I know, there is only one temp sensor, and it reports to the PCM, the PCM then tells the cluster what it should display. Regardless if that number is 32.78, or 3278.... that's just wrong....... though it appears the gauge in the dash is reading correctly, as is the digital display. Think I would be more inclined to believe the scan tool was lieing to you.

Unfortunately, that is a distinct possibility. Compression or leakdown test might be informative.

If the codes aren’t completely cleared out of the computer will they keep popping up? Do I have to take it to the dealer to have them cleared?

Should just be able to disconnect the battery for a while, and it will clear codes. (try an hour.)
