46re converter locking up in drive and reverse sometimes
If TCC were staying locked, the engine would chug, and act like a manual that you aren't pushing in the clutch as you cam to a stop, and then would stall. If you can two-foot it, it's entirely possible the trans is NOT the problem at all. Do you have any other shifting issues?
update the kit i installed had no effect, shifts nice in every gear, over drive comes on and off with the dash button, about every other time i goto put it in drive or rev its locking up, if i --- two foot it it will come right out of it and work great....would a new replacement converter fix this issue, also is there any way to test the converter?

Keep in mind, I am not there..... so, can't feel exactly what it is doing....... but, I am not convinced this is a trans problem..... Have you cleaned the throttle body of late?
Edit: DOH!!!! It's a diesel........ so, no IAC motor for you that I am aware of......
So, ignore that......

Problem is, if the converter has come apart internally, it has distributed that crap throughout the trans..... installing a new converter may solve it for a while, but, all the junk in the trans is going to wreak it's own havok....... If you are SURE this is a trans problem....... Think I would wire a 'monitor' in to the TCC circuit, and see if somehow it IS getting commanded on at some point, and if the solenoid behaves as it should.
iam thinking the trans is good but the converter is going bad....good idea on the wire monitor is a good idea...iam under the impession that if you have your foot on the brake it should not be locking up, and it should not lock up until 3-4 anyway..

Just install an LED, or even a low wattage bulb into the circuit. Keep in mind, the pcm GROUNDS the circuit to complete it. So, power the bulb from the cigarette lighter, or something similar, and wire it into the ground wire for TCC solenoid. Light will come on when PCM engages TCC. (or, it finds a ground somewhere else......)
