Without power, the solenoid should not be energized. (it uses the 12 volt circuit the relay provides.) Is the truck getting harder to hold in place while all this is going on?

if i double foot it it will work as normal.....i pulled the trans relay when it was doing this and it still did it,,, but sence the converter was slowly locking up i have driven it. if i decide to go with a new converter, should i go stock replacement or? and what else should i do?

I would have to drive it to be absolutely sure of what I was talking about. Would hate to suggest you spend the money on a converter, and it not fix it.... Anywhere near Michigan??

Does it do this immediately after startup, does it take a couple minutes after startup? Does the engine have to be fully up to temp?

Jack up the rear, both tires off the ground. Start it up, put it in gear. Don't step on brake or gas.... Does it still stall?

Disable the vacuum boost. (disconnect the line from the booster, and plug it. Try it again.
