Default A Pillar Hit My Car (Painting)

The white concrete pillar of a parking garage hit my black 2011 Dodge Caliber (or I hit it, I can't recall) as I was backing out of a parking space. There wasn't actually a direct collision, just a scraping that left the cosmetic damage indicated in the photos below.

I plan on taking it (somewhere) to get painted but, as I've never had a car painted before, does anyone have an idea on what I should expect to pay? I just want to make sure I don't dumbly sign-on to a $3,000 repair without knowing better.

Something like that will run around $200 to $300 to get done depending on the shop. May be cheaper if you really look because you might find someone that will just spray that section instead of doing the whole bumper.

That sounds about right. My dad just had his front bumper cover replaced on his 08 Grand Caravan along with one fog light bezel. paint and all was just a little over a $1000, so a couple hundred bucks sounds about right just to repaint the damage.

Default Thanks

Thanks so much for the replies.

I've heard horrible things about Maaco but for something like this do you think it's safe to take it to them?

Depends on what part of the country your in? Where I live your looking at about $450.00. Get at least 3 different quotes to be sure your not getting shafted...And tell each of them your getting multiple quotes...."customary among friends and necessary among thieves"....

Just remember "you get what you pay for" Maaco does not spend much time sanding & prepping correctly which is why there paint jobs will start to peel & flake within a year or two....
