Hi, I have a 05, DCV, 3.8 and have code P0404 and P0406. EGR valve problems. Can anyone tell me where to find the option code? NAPA auto parts has 2 valves, with option code XZZ and with out the option code. NAPA told me it maybe a sticker stuck some were. I cant find it or where to look. Any help would be great. Thanks.

 

Can you read the pn number off the old valve and post or send me a pm with the last 9 of your vin and mileage, and just your first name, I can bring up the build codes.

not to hijack this post, but since it was already about the EGR valve...

I'm also getting only the 0406 code on a 2006 GC... the guy who read the code told me "you might want to try removing the tube that goes from the valve to the top of the intake, and make sure it isn't blocked, before replacing the valve"

has this ever worked?.. and how much was that valve?

 

Too late you already have........... Over the years,the only egr tubes that were blocked was early minivans with 3.3 or 3.8 engines.1990 thru 1995.I have not seen any of the egr tubes blocked on the RS body.

 

EGR valve is $75 at Autozone and the same at NAPA.

 

Hoping someone can shine a light on this for me as well. I have a 2005 GC SXT 3.8 with last 8 digits of the VIN#5R332179. It is a very easy change if I knew which one to get.

 

Call a Dodge dealer service department, and ask if your vin has the XZZ option. It's possible they won't know what you're talking about. I had to call 3 dealers before finding someone who understood what I was asking about. I'm sure I was just not providing the necessary tech-speak that would have gotten the first 2 to the correct computer page where that option is listed.

 

DJW000, your van does have the XZZ option.
