Is it safe to add cleaners and cetane to 2004 common rail cummins. or fuel additives like conditioners(lucas, amsoil, bardhals , wynns etc...)will it hurt any newer fuel injectioon systems that are designed to run on low sulfur diesel?

 

I'm running about 1 qt of 2 cycle oil with each tank full, as of now I'm on my second tank and have noticed engine is running considerably quieter and got an increase in mileage . I believe Mayfair has a post concering 2 cycle oil well worth reading up on it. One would be surprised as to what is in some of these "conditioners" I believe more harm than good comes from alot of these "snake oil" drinks!

 

what kind of 2 cycle oil? synthetic, or synthetic blend or mineral? do u premix it in gas can first?

 

Do not use synthetic!!! I dump 1 qt in before I set pump nozzel in and begin fueling up. The swirling force as the diesel fills the tank is enough to mix the 2 cycle oil.

 

16oz Power service and 8oz of 2stroke right now. . .I was useing MMO instead of the 2 stroke, however I am trying the 2stroke out right now. . .engine seems like like it a bit better over the MMO.

also with the 2stroke, get the ashless stuff.

so can i add alil 2 cycle oil to my 2004 common rail CTD? or just the vp44 models? What transfer pump do i have on my truck?

 

I think you still have a Carter transfer pump on an 04

 

I'm using 16 oz Power Service "Grey" and 16 oz of 2 cycle oil per 25 gallons of diesel.

 

I put in some lucas everyonce in a while and it seems to help as well.
