Default Fuel pressure gauge

Just had the original lift pump on my 99 CTD replaced at 128,000 miles. They had to go to with a in tank lift pump vs. a motor mounted one as I had. I realized the old one was going when I couldn't hear it cycle & pressurize. I can barely hear the in tank one now. The question is: thoughts about a fuel pressure gauge as an indicator for any future problems. Most people I've asked think 1.-the in tank system will last a very long time or 2.-a pressure gauge is a waste.

I'm interested in your thoughts on this as well as the different types of mounts, pillar, above dash, in dash, below dash, brands to look for or avoid and costs.

I realize I got lucky this time with the VP44, I'm not looking to roll the dice again......

I only have a FP gauge so I mounted it in dash. I made a mount like this one. http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....DG-01FACE-9902 It goes in the cubby below the air bag switch. I ran a mechanical gauge with an isolator. I've got maybe $80 in the set up. I'd go out and take a photo, but it's about 6 degrees out there now. They also make one that goes on the column if you prefer.

I'd definately do a fp gauge... I'll be installing a walbro kit on my truck soon and will be adding a gauge to my indash cluster and moving the boost up to the pillar.

Since you have a VP-44 injection pump, a fuel pressure gauge isn't a luxury, I'd say it's a MUST !! I think it's just as inportant as a water temp gauge. If it's the only gauge you get, that collumn gauge holder is pretty cool.

Take a look here http://www.genosgarage.com/prodinfo....er=GM-DG-15012. Not too expensive either.

Dasnake, how do you like that? Does it look cluttered around the dash?
