its the most likely cause of an oil mess. not many people empty them out like they are suppose to (myself included) and whenever you go down a steep hill oil can seep out of the pcv and fill that bottle. when it overflows, the radiator fan blows it all over the place and makes a big frikken mess.
stupid place to put a PCV in my opinion, and if you take it to a dealer to address the issue (while still under warranty) they will actually replace the tappet cover on the drivers side of the block behind the injection pump, with a vented tappet cover, and relocate the PCV to the side of the block which eliminates the problem of oil coming up the timing gears on the front of the motor and out the PCV.
mine also makes a big mess whenever I jump into the throttle hard and hit 65psi boost.. excess crank case pressure from that makes oil mist blow out the pcv. (my front axle and steering is a huge oil soaked mess)

yep, that big bulb lookin thing at the bottom of the hose is the puke bottle.
Looks like this when its cleaner...
Clean it up and you will see how to take it off...just dump it out and put it back on..
and you could do the upgrade yourself, but it is a very involved project. involves removing the injection pump, fuel filter assembly, radiator shroud, fan, washer bottle... you gotta dig into it a ways to get to that tappet cover.
here's the TSB on it: http://articles.mopar1973man.com/2nd...kcase-breather
