Newb looking into car and modding
You can get a stock '04 SRT-4 into the 12's just by putting slicks on the front if it's an experienced racer behind the wheel. It's sounds more like this tuning might be modding, but there are some things you can do for free to create more horsepower and boost. This is highly unrecommended as it can and will lead to a destructive lean condition. The best way to do it is to use proven mods.
i think i am just gonna go with stg 1 and a agp wga(17psi...15 @ redline) then some time thereafter go with bdjs 3" race exhaust and 3" o2 housing, ed hard pipes and injen cai. this "tuning" sounds a little to fishy. i should be alright running 17psi with stg 1 correct? or do i have to worry about running lean?
17 PSI with Stage 1 is fine. As long as the PCM "sees" how much boost it's putting out, your OK. It's when you trick the PCM into "seeing" less boost than it is actually putting out, when you start running into problems like detonation.[sm=smiley2.gif]
Dont you just love these, guys & girls. I've learned so much from the few months ive joined this site

After all this, most of us know 10 times more about our cars than the service tech's at the dealership!!!!![sm=smiley16.gif]
If he's speaking standard sport-compact speak, by "tuning" he's talking about tweaking the air/fuel maps in the ECU (PCM, whatever). There are multiple ways of doing this, the easiest being what RR said about a "piggyback" device or a type of resistor that tricks the computer into thinking the A/F ratio is richer than it is, and therefore leans things out. All I can say about this on this car is DON'T (unless you happen to like holes in your pistons). It likes to run rich- keeps things nice and cool. Make the other mods you talked about and you'll be good for low-mid 13's.
