Here's a little stock block 4 banger that runs 8's that will spank that 10.2 pony.

That Neon is Sweeeet, I do appreciate how fast these Mustangs are going though, you can't deny that forced induction makes for a fun ride in whatever your boosting the hell out of.

I couldn't imagine having my 440 supercharged or twin turbocharged, it would be a superbeast.

Mustangs. The only community that the performance parts are all over the place and you can find stuff cheap. mustangs are only bought by rich little bratts hah? Roomate has spent 4 years building and rebuilding his 83 GLX vert stang. he now has a 393CI monster of a motor, TKO tranny, built to the hill 8.8 rear end with 4.10s, and a cage. The thing is street driven and also runs on slicks at the track. before the stroker kit he was on a 351W and the thing went 12.5 with 4 bent exhaust valves and he had 3.55 gears. His daily driver is a 2001 cobra with probably the sickest suspension kit you can buy for a mustang. Kenny Brown everything, 8.8 solid axle with 4.10 gears, cage, and long tube headers. Ohh yea it also has a dyno tune and a CAI. that setup alone NA went very low 12s without the LTs on there. He just graduate college and he isn't rich. He just works alot and went to school full time. Yes you will see alot of riced out mustangs but wait, I see alot of riced out Neons where I am at. I see riced out everything. Its just part of life.

right...and i know this guy who has a blown mustang that runs 10.0s on DOTs..and you knwo what? hes a dick just like every other mustang owner ive met at the track..."if its not a mustang, its not a sports car"..those kind of guys...thats why when some ***** wrapped a cobra over the guard rail two years ago, i stood on my door frame, in plain view of everyone and applauded.

"duh, i dont know anything about cars so ill buy a mustang because i can open a Jegs magazine and point to a page and order parts, and have them put on to have a high horsepower car; all without knowing a damn thing about cars."
-typical mustang owner.

i ran 12.6s with bad valve springs without slicks in a big heavy car, with a smaller motor, running 87 octane. color me not impressed.

so he ran "low 12s and 12.5" respectively, and has both cars caged?

Safety Cage:
A 'Roll cage' is required for any vehicle running an elapsed time at or below 11.99.
-NHRA Rulebook

Safety Cage:
A 'Roll cage' is required for any vehicle running an elapsed time at or below 11.49.
-IHRA Rulebook

Maybe someone should explain weight reduction to him.
My next doorn neighbor in college had a 17 second Civic with a roll cage too.

When do I need a roll bar or roll cage, and what should it look like?

A roll bar is required in any convertible running 13.99 seconds or quicker in the quarter mile, and in other cars beginning at 11.99. The roll bar is accepted in vehicles running as quick as 10.00 second e.t., provided the stock firewall and floorboard is intact, other than for installation of wheel tubs. The rollbar must be constructed of minimum 1 ¾ inch o.d. x .118 inch wall mild steel tubing, or 1 ¾ x .083 chrome moly tubing, and must conform to the following diagram
that is why he has a cage in the vert. cage in the cobra for auto crossing and road racing.

Just to clear things up a little, the new rule change for roll cages is 11.49, not 11.99 anymore, NHRA just changed it this year due to the Stock appearing class requests.
I can't remember but I'm sure the rule for convertibles is much more stringent, like 13.99 or something.

Well we just got the motor together this week well 2 days ago and probably take it to the track this weekend if weather permits. It was on the wide band yesterday so it is good and tuned. I am thinking high 11s on this. Then who knows where it will sit with a 200 shot of funny gas ontop of it. I know he is going to need a better cage than the 6 point that is on it know. I will let you know what it runs when it gets to the track.
