Heh, I didnt say it was intentional, nor did I say it was your dad's fault. I just said it doesn't surprise me.

Yes the engine in my RX-7 was a Series 4 13b 3-Rotor.

I still don't know why anyone would race (or tune to race) a diesel lol.

And yes that little Mazda3 has pull for its size, what with the 160 horse 2.3 and all, but I see people that race them mostly have hatchbacks, and ours is a sedan. I think the hatch is ugly as hell though...

Lampy,
What all have you done to your Lightning to get it running 12.6?
4/6 lb. lower pulley (interchange.), Reichard UG upper pulley, Accufab SB Throttle Body, Cobra R Water Pump, Ported/Polished blower/plenum, NOS intercooler system, Factroy Tech Valve body shift kit with deep sump trans pan, TR6 spark plugs, cold air intake, boost bypass, JBA ceramic headers, magnaflow cat-back exhaust, electric fan,, blah, blah , blah. That should be most of it.

The 12.6 was also done with slicks borrowed from a friend. The best time I did on DR is a 12.8, I think.

Welcome aboard Limpy!, oh I mean Lampy!LOL
It's always a pleasure to do a little Ford bashing now and then. Hey and quit whining about retirees in Florida, I'm in Vegas for christ sakes!!!

Seriously though, very nice times for the Explorer, Iv'e been meaning to construct a 12 second daily driverbut with all my projects, I don't have enough cash to go around.
I spent most of my money on Booze, Babes, and Cars, the rest I just wasted!LOL

Really! I wish I could run lower octane with gas prices soaring. The 02 and earlier Lightnings are notorious for spitting out spark plugs, it's only a one and a half turn. They did not correct the problem until the 03's came out. I'm not sure who makes the gas. It's available at the track. I believe the tanks sy sunoco, but they are old. Last time it was $6 a gallon.

I didn't have the snow tires on the L, just the 35" mudders. I am in the south you know.

Just kidding.

James, you live the American dream...sorta.

And a Lightning is not an Explorer...its a pickup like the F-150.

Oops, my bad, I meant Lightning.
But, since you are handing out lessons, did you know that Ford has been using the Explorer monicker since the 70's and it started out as a Pick-Up?

A big difference in 60' times. With the Nitto DR's, you have to ease into throttle, leaving me with like a 1.8-1.9 60', the slicks got me down to I believe 1.6-1.7.

I'm sorry, but I just can't believe a 1.6 60 foot time, maybe a 1.7, but 1.6 is very, very, very, good for that truck.
Especially with a stock converter. O.K. I'll be the first, B period, S period.
